I have a DCSB with OEM factory tri-fold tonneau cover. I'm looking for a fork-mount solution for carrying bikes that fits this configuration with the least amount of interference with folding and unfolding the cover. Do not want to use the hitch.

Anyone care to share their solutions so I can figure out the available options?

I use a fork mount on one of the side rails, but you can really only carry one bike like this. I will probably move the mount to the underside of the middle section of the tonneau (so it's on top when folded). I should be able to haul two bikes like that.

That's a good idea. I have the same issue with my tri-fold Flex cover on my 2nd gen. I put two Rocky Mounts on the side rails but I don't think it will work, plus I had to space them out to be able to bolt them on. I'll try this idea next!

You should be able to fit two bikes easily with rocky mounts clutches, if you put one on the left rail and the other on the right.

I can close the middle segment of my trifold with one bike installed.

Depends on the bike. My rear tire doesn't clear the drivers side rail, so I have to angle the frame so the wheel fits. I also ride a Cannondale 29'er so I'm sure that is a big part of it.

OR... Let the wheel sit above the rail. Big twist tie down to a factory cleat would keep it in place.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've got a 29'er as well. I had a rockymounts on my last car and liked it. I'll give that a shot and see if it fits the bike.

Get a tailgate pad, dakine, race face, evoc, whatever brand you like. With your 5 foot bed you can still get 3 bikes in the back and they will be out of the wind, its quick and cheap. lots of people using tailgate pads here in BC.
you can still use your backup camera with a tailgate pad.

I forsee fitment problems with a tailgate pad and trifold.

Beyond fitment, I'd worry about scratches, which I've heard can be an issue with a pad.

After you consider the +/- of various options, reconsider a hitch mount bike rack for its ease of use and protection of your bikes and truck. I have been very pleased with the 1up USA for its ease of use, design, quality, and ease of install and fold up storage (on and off the truck). I use it continuously and have no affiliation with this company. https://www.1upusa.com/

just a quick hijack if you don't mind - which pads can you still use the camera? i'm in the market and have only fondled the evoc one and it definitely doesn't...

The new pads are good as far as protecting from scratches , just make sure tailgate is clean when you put it on.
The dakine has a "kickstand" on it by tailgate latch, supposed to allow use of backup camera.
There is the truck bed Kuat dirtbag mount if your not into the pad option
My buddy has a new truck , prob into it for 80G and he's using a tailgate pad with no concerns.
I'd read some reviews on the biking websites to get more real world input.
