Got rear ended. Was stopped at a traffic light. Guy was at speed limit speed (~30).

Minimal damage to bumper but broken trailer hitch which makes me think the force was taken at the hitch which means it was mostly the frame that took the hit and not the bumper... frame damage... new taco?

    That's why you have insurance.

My neck hurt like a mother fucker after (this was three days ago). I hit my head on the steering wheel and then smacked my head back against the headrest.

He had a 2010 Lexus RX Hybrid - I think that's like a $60K whip. His bumper was cracked up but that was it.

Yea I'm worried I might have frame damage since the hitch took most of the hit it seems like.

Glad no one got hurt. Sorry to hear about your truck

My wife got hit in here Navigator the first week we had it. She was rear ended and the impact was right on the trailer hitch and tailpipe. The car that hit her was damaged badly but the Navigator needed only a rear bumper cover and bumper shock mounts and a new exhaust system. No frame damage at all. Hopefully your Taco will come through with no damage.

im guessing that son of a bitch was too busy not watching the road. Glad your ok. if he hit your trailer hitch, the trailer hitch might be bent. Im sure toyota designed them so when you get hit they hitch will bend at a certain point to avoid frame damage, the trailer hitches bolt on, so it can be replaced. but still get your bed looked at cause that could have shifted.

Sorry about your truck. If your neck was hurting, you should at least go get it looked at, even if you are feeling better now.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Suppose that Lexus Hybrid needs a brake recall too?
I suspect there is more damage underneath his fancy bumper cover.

Damn that sucks, gotta love those MD drivers. I hope that txt the douche was probably sending was worth it. What did you have in the hitch receiver? Hopefully it fucked the innards of his car up good.

I agree that you should get your neck looked at and documented in your medical record.

I would like too. Worst case, they total it. I buy it back from the insurance company and swap everything for stock. Put my parts on a new truck. Maybe get the frame straightened on the this one then sell it for like $10-15K? Can I do that?

Yes, I do find that people pretty much suck.

Not that this will in any way make you feel better but I do feel your pain. My truck was rearended by a drunk driving illegal alien exactly a month after I bought it.

What is stuck in your hitch? Is it the remains of a draw bar with the ball mount broken off?

That sucks. Glad to hear you are ok.
Now you could always upgrade to a beefy steel rear bumper. So in the unfortunate case someone else decides to hit you no problems will arise.
