Norcal Spotted and BS Thread

Unfortunately, it's been like the perfect storm of unfortunate events since Christmas Eve..... in true Raiders fashion I guess there's always next year! Haha

 

Snow run yesterday. Dump run today.

 

Some of you may recall I had a clunking that just wouldnt quit. Replaced inner and outer tie rods and it was still there. Took it to a mechanic and he couldnt find anything.

Well picked a new bumper today, (thanks @Jt_dirt7!) and crawled under the truck to see what bolts I would need and BAM! Shit ton of grease next to one of the shackle bolts... which is on BACKWARDS?!?! wtf!

Don't know how that happened, but my question to you guys is, do the shackle bushings contain that much grease? Or is the shady place I got an oil change who did a complimentary "vehicle inspection" messing with me?

I think what is happening is right as I come to a stop the rear of the truck settles which looks like is just close enough for the bolt to hit the shackle hanger.

Ugh leave the kid and boom ton of space for the compressor...let me get back to you when I know when my brother is heading up next. This would be great for my inflatables....for the pool.

 

IIRC, stock shackles don't have a zerk fitting for grease. Not sure how that happened, but it's probably nothing serious.

Also, if you're looking for some lights for those big cutouts in that bumper, I have some LED's for $40. Brand new in box. I paid $55 or $60. Did a bunch of research to find the right sized lights since that used to be my bumper.

 

Just throwing this out for my NorCal friends. I can do better for you guys if anyone needs a big monitor.

I have a crash bar and a silver sky bumper. I know its not white, but still a massive fuckin improvement over current "situation".....

 

Kinda looks like someone put that grease there to help with any kind of squeaking from that backwards bolt rubbing. Not sure how grease would get there otherwise

 

yeah I just don't know who would have done that within the last year... considering only two mechanics have seen the truck (and I know neither one of them did it) and some guys who have done oil changes.

Yeah I have an Asus 27" and a Dell 26" currently, so it would replace the 26". Shoot me a text whenever, maybe we can meet up this week at some point and you can program my Radio if you've got the time
