The news just keeps getting worse , J2 ( Granny ) missing and presumed dead , southern residents orcas down to 78 from 88 a couple years ago

This thread should be renamed "OZ's whale watch."

 

OZ out of curiosity why are you so attached to it? Was it Free Willy?

 

Ironically over in the Banned Members thread we were just talking about OZ and his free willy.

 

To Orcas ? because they are awesome and part of the fibre of living on the coast and they are endangered so any loss to the group is pretty dire at this point

Seeing them up close in the wild is always a treat

in the summer of 2004 my family was visiting friends in newfoundland i don't remember the town anymore anyway we ended up going out in this guys speed boat out to the bay and while out there dolphins start playing around the boat it was really cool at the time

 

My BIL and I were salmon fishing in a small speed boat here on the coast , all of a sudden we could hear the sound of the orcas exhaling as they surface , it makes a fairly loud noise , around the corner into the narrow pass we were in came a pod of about about 18 whales , we killed our motor as they swam right towards us . They went right past us , on both sides , the closer ones only 20' away . A big bull came up just as he passed us maybe 30' away , his dorsal fin was as tall as us standing in the boat , then the best part happened as a whale approaching us went down , and directly under our boat coming up just on the other side of us , as it went under our boat maybe 15 or 20' down you could see its white body markings the whole time down in the black water .

What tax taxes the carbon tax ?

 

Well in Alberta the Carbon Tax obviously effects the prices of everything shipped by a vehicle powered by fossil fuels. So gas has jumped 20 cents here and food is up about 10% so far. I think this is a minor blip and should go back down but the visible appearance is that there is a tax on tax since that jump is magnified again by GST.

 

Like above ...in Ontario the carbon tax is taxed with gst

 

The final insult for carbon tax. They miscalculated by a factor of 10 - but still........................
