    Hey, y'all.
I bought my truck used last year in May and e-mailed Toyota about the leaf spring TSB. No response. Should I just call a local Toyota dealership and try to work it out with them locally? I read on a few threads that people are finally getting theirs done after months of wait lists. Where do I start?

    Thanks.

You need to take it in to be inspected before they can do anything.

If you want them done, call your local dealer. They will ask for your VIN, then run it on the computer to find out if it is eligible. If it is, they will either put you on the list, or schedule you to get it done depending on their backlog/parts availability.
Edit: they will also need to inspect your truck to see which leaf spring set you have.

If you have a lift you will need to get new ubolts because they won't reuse the ones you have and only will supply stock size bolts.

I'm stock right now so that's not an issue, but thanks for the heads up.

I had my leaf springs on my 09 replaced a few months back, however it was done under the recall and not the TSB. You should be receiving a recall letter in the mail, and from there you can make an appoinmentnto go and have it inspected at a dealership. Mine had the 2+1 leaf pack and was replaced with the 3+1. When i talked to the service manager at the dealership, they told me that they were looking at the number of clips on the leafs to determine whether or not theyd be replaced. Either way i was happy with the new leafs. A little stiffer than stock, and they sag like shit, but at least they dont squeak like my old ones did.

Edited to add: i didnt wait to get my recall letter, i called up to the dealership, had them run my vin and made an appt to get it inspected

I went down to my dealership, they took my VIN, decided I was eligible and replaced them like 2 days later. This was about a month ago

Right on. Yeah I've got 3 leafs now. I'm hoping they'll add the 4th. I feel like my truck sags without that much weight on it. Plus I've got that sticker on the inside of the front driver's side door that says something like "modifications to the vehicle have reduced carrying weight by 175 kg" so that's not reassuring.

The reduced capacity sticker is probably because you have the tow package. Added weight to the vehicle reduces cargo capacity. You won't gain much from the recall springs as they are still pretty flat new out of the box. You may gain a little from the thickness of the additional spring and depending on how inverted your original springs are. Aside from aftermarket spring packs, the best thing for handling cargo/trailer would be to add air bags.

Not bad. I took mine in for inspection in June and they didn't get the parts to do the work until the beginning of December.
