2017 Lone Star Toyota Jamboree @ Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area, Gilmer, TX May 4th-7th

My wife and seven year old son will be along. He likes trucks, wheeling, and camping and he's surprisingly laid back for a kid. There really is allot to do throughout the day with night runs on trails and of course socializing back at camp. WE don't normally just wheel non-stop all day. We like to go out early on a run and then head back in for lunch and to see whats shaking at the pavilion where the vendors setup and the classes are held. The whole event really runs at the pace you want to set for yourself as there is lots going on to appeal to every type of wheeler out there.

For the ladies there were a few female only driving events that I heard were really low key and provided a great opportunity to do some learning and have some stress free fun. For kids there was a bouncy castle that I remember from last year and I think there were a couple craft/coloring sessions, but my son wasn't there last year so I may be remembering that incorrectly.

The raffle is plain nuts. They give away pretty much everything except for trucks. All kids of armor, fridges, wheels, tires, air compressors, GoPro cameras, and much, much more. Last year I won about two grand worth of stuff in the raffle myself and other TW members took home heaps of loot as well. It was mind blowing.

As to wheeling, there are all sorts of trails there from mild to wild and even dedicated competition areas with some very hardcore problems to test the really built trucks. One thing that we try to do while on trails is to travel with at least one other vehicle so that we can assist each other. I've found that groups of three to five vehicles is pretty nice as you can have a little more fun at a slower pace which allows time for pictures, sight seeing, and the slower pace tends to lend itself to less damage which is nice for those of us that are traveling ten to twelve hours to get there and back.

 

Ill def run my prerunner on mild trails if i can get into a group that would mind helping me if i can get stuck

 

Yup I will be looking to have only superficial damage. Haha
That's awesome about female runs. I can't wait for that.
And man it'd be awesome to win some armour!
