These look great but notice that the link is for the Fog light...just an FYI. Also, I went with the Opt7. They're not bad - more of city lights. h11 size

Thanks for breaking that down for me. I do realize that my fuel costs will basically double, and given I drive so far i've realized that its not going to be cheap.

That being said, how is everyones insurance with the gen 3 Tacoma's?

Hi Mike, not sure if this question has been posted before in this thread (I apologize for bringing it up again if it has).

Toyota has been advertising that is will make it's Safety Sense System standard on almost all Canadian models by the end of 2017. Not sure if that means 2017 models or vehicles built in 2017 (i.e. 2018 models) or both. The advertisements I've seen show the Safety Sense System is not the same as the STAR Safety System (TSS-C and TSS-P) https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/safety-innovation/safety-technology

I noticed on the 2017 Tacoma brochure the Safety Sense System (TSS-C or TSS-P) is not standard equipment.

Do you know if Toyota plans to add the Safety Sense System as standard equipment to all Tacoma's? If so, when will they be doing this, and will it be the TSS-C and/or TSS-P system?

    Funny!!

I was just thinking the same thing as I am waiting for a 2018 for the Safety Sense system which Toyota has been advertising coming to all models over the next two years or so.

From what I have been told the Camry, CH-R, and Sienna will all have it as a 2018 model. If I had to make an educated guess, when Toyota says by the end of 2017 "most models" will have TSS, I think they mean everything that is not on a truck based platform. Even the 2018 4Runner is rumoured not to have TSS and it will be fully redesigned that year. There is an article on Toyota.ca that says:

"Models that will not offer the systems standard by the end of 2017 include Lexus GX, Toyota 4Runner, 86 (jointly developed with Subaru), and Yaris Sedan (developed by Mazda)."

Anyone on here have any experience with the ECGS bushing after doing a lift?
Or have the needle bearing vibe after doing their lift?

Does anyone have any news on TSB/TCIs available in canada. I got the transmission update a few months ago but I heard there is a new one. Also, I heard there is one for vibrations when braking.

Does anyone have a list of all TSB/TCIs available in Canada?

    Much appreciated... Happy new years!

I went to Pickering Toyota last week for service #2. At the same time, I had asked them to perform TCI 4419 and TCI 4421.

When I got the truck back, the paperwork (invoice), it did say that the tech performed it (in writing), but after doing a trip from Markham to Niagara Falls and back, it really doesn't seem like they did anything.

What are my next steps, because at this point it seems like a complete waste of time going back to the dealership and asking them to do it again.

Hey Guys, Just got my 17 TRD OR SB. I'm in the Aurora, on area. Planning to do an overland build slowly. Loving the truck tho!

I was really surprised when the dealer told me I couldn't order the tonneau cover any longer. Can anyone confirm?
I went with the Extang tri fold anyway, it looks like its the same product and it was 50% cheaper.

Any recommendations on first oil change? I plan to pick a brand and stick with it for its entire life so first choice is an important one. I am thinking Valvoline full syn 0w20 from Walmart, its $47/5l but my biggest concern is supply. I went to walmart to check it out and it doesnt look like a popular oil weight so it doesnt seem stocked often. And the 1l isnt stocked either. So now your forced to buy 2 5l jugs.

I might go with a Canadian tire supply, something like Castrol or Mobil1 but I hear really good things about Valvoline.

I'm just south of you in Toronto doing a more Overland build.
Mines from Stouffville Toyota I pick it up next week and I got the cover. But I ordered back in October

I'll likely just buy oil from the dealer. It's roughly the same price.

Go to Canadian tire's web site and sign up for "Notifications".... Just give 'em your name, etc and e-mail and they will notify you of any of their products that will be going on sale in the next flyer, before it's out......
I don't buy anything from that's not on sale anymore....a nice feature.
Ounce signed up, find Mobile 1 0W-20 and put in your "notify me" file...My store does not have this all the time (0W-20), so I buy 1 change ahead so as to always have 1 on hand.

    Cheers..

I personally use 0W20 Pennzoil Ultra. Normally $50+ at Canadian Tire. I got it for $29 per 5 quart jug. Bought 6 of them as they rarely go on sale.

My wife's 2015 CRV also uses 0W20 so it is nice to stockpile and always have on hand.

I also go to Amazon.com and order in cases of OEM oil filters for both the Honda and the Toyota. They get shipped to Point Roberts and I pick them up from the PO box. Dealerships want $8-10 Canadian for each and Amazon wants under $4 US.

Yeah, I got the filters from E-bay...better price than dealers.... The 'ole lady's Corolla needs that oil also...
Nice to have the "drop box" on the wrong side of the border...No issues with Customs..??

I have Nexus and it seems that if I am below $300 Canadian they couldn't care less. I pull up show my card with my windows rolled down in advance and hope it is a woman. I already have my receipt in my right hand as I pull up. Look them in the eyes without flinching. Tell her I got oil filters and maintenance items for my truck. She rolls her eyes and says "BYE."

Guys ask a little more. They are usually a little interested. Usually super nice just have to make it clear you are not buying items for business use or they will tax and threaten my Nexus status.

Also not to start an oil debate; but I personally go with Pennzoil Ultra because the valve chatter on my Acura TSX was considerably less with Pennzoil. Both Mobil 1 AFE and Mobil 1 EP were much louder.

Mine is around $800/yr with 2mil pl/pd, all the extras but no glass, and $500 deductible. I was shocked, my 2012 Impreza was 1G, with the same coverage. I guess there are some benefits to getting old, haha

    Hey guys,

Stumbled onto this forum while shopping for a new Tacoma.

I was looking a couple of months ago and they didn't have the 4x4 2017 double cab Off Road in Canada. Then they went and changed the names of all of the Tacoma models on the website and I got confused.

I'm also wondering why the Off Road model has 1 fewer seat than the TRD Sport.

Anyhow - what's the biggest difference between the OR and the Sport. I'm planning to take the truck out for some back country camping (or accessing some more remote crown land for camping/hunting/fishing). Can the Sport handle that kind of thing (having 5 seats is a plus) or should I stick with looking at the OR?
