after some time on the high way, the wind noise bothers me..
no specific place that I could look at, just in general.

if I wanted to help sound deaden, where should I start to get most bang for the buck?

    thx

all seals look nice, everything is tight...I don't think noise is above specs..
I just would really like it quieter

I don't know about bang for the buck, but I am real happy with the Dynamat sound deadener one of my sons installed in my 2002 Extended Cab TRD. My wife's car is a Lexus ES350 and I think it is real close as far as quiet on the highway. It also made a dramatic improvement in my stereo as far as hearing background instruments, if that sort of thing is important to you. Attached are a couple pics of the work in progress. I also have one 11 second .m4v film file that I am not able to post of an interior rear metal bench bracket with before and after Dynamating that really illustrates the sound deadening (will make a believer out of you!). If anyone is interested in watching the clip, you are welcome to send me a pm with your email and I can try sending it to you (file size 21.5mb) IMG_3445.jpg.

Your roof. I am in the process of putting sound deadener on the roof inside.

    Here is what I found.
The center support (it holds the dome light) and back support has came unglued from the panel causing the roof to resonate. Not bad, but enough that you can feel it going down the road. I can knock on the roof and it sounds like a drum. Not good.
The felt pads that Toyota glued to the roof panel came unglued and was laying on the headliner when I pulled it out. After thousands of hot and cold cycles....I am not surprised.
If I put on my OEM roof rack......the inside of the truck in noisy.

    The fix.
    Re-glue the supports.
Apply sound deadener (Dynamat for example). You can equivlents for much cheaper. I went with GTMAT Quadro.
    REINSTALL felt pads.

My truck sounds about normal But I want it quitter inside So I've been slowly sound proofing mine. Passenger door and behind R & L kick panel done. Drivers door is next. Just doing the passenger door made a difference. The wind noise at highway speeds irritates me. I think I may have found something that will help. Haven't tried it yet. If you open your door and look toward the front fender it is completely open. Nothing to stop air from funneling into the door area. Researching some closed cell foam that will hold up to the elements to block it off.

I know the spot you are talking about. I could see that letting in plenty of wind and with that, noise. Nice idea about that.

As of right now the best thing I've found that's is reasonably priced is foam water weenie pool toys. 3 or 4 inches around, closed cell and easy to get.
