Something was definitely installed. This is what it should look like from the factory.

I suspect that's no Bueno either since it's factory wiring. I'll have to peak at the FSM to see what it is unless @gpb knows it off the top of his head. The dealer it was purchased from would be getting a visit.

Here's the work order on the stuff they did. It's not very readable but maybe some of you guys who know more about fixing trucks can make something of it.

From what I can tell it says, "Vehicle would not turn on upon arrival. Confirmed connected techstopatch (sp?) & found multiple codes for bonus switch harness. Performed further diagnosis & found aftermarket wiring harness tapped into factory harness causing a short to brake switch harness & push start harness. Removed harness and fixed & solder (sp?) factory harness. Vehicle now turns on. Everything working to factory specs. 4.0 hrs."

There was a thread here a few months ago where a guy was asking about port installed options and the wire and butt connectors in his pics look very similar to yours if I remember correctly

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Including this because I was confused about the first post

Ha, all that matters to me at this point is that the original dealer that sold me the truck, Toyota Autonation in Tempe, AZ, covers the cost of this repair. I can't pick up the truck until they tell me they'll cover it. It's not Dick's fault (giggity).

I'd have to look it up in the FSM too -- that's not a connector specified by either the DEI DBALL or the Fortin EVO units in their Remote-Start-Ready configuration as best as I know.

Also there's a relay in the picture in the upper middle; neither unit uses one for this PTS tacoma either.
