Fox 2.5 preload bias left / right

    I am looking to get some numbers from other owners about the preload difference between the right and left side shocks with the standard 600 pound 13" spring. I'm talking about measuring the thread above the adjuster collar on both sides. I expect a small difference, with the left measurement being bigger, but my new set seems too far off. My old set was only different by about 1/4". That makes sense given the left side weight bias. My new set is different by 3/4". That should be around 450 pounds of offset. I think I got a weak spring. The spring on the right (passenger side) has the same preload as the one I took off. The drivers side is squeezed a 1/2 more than my old set.

    you also have to take into consideration that where the shock is mounted the tire has ~ a 2x advantage on the shock. so that LB figure is cut in half. 55ish lbs for battery + ~ 140 lbs for gas..... its close.


    If you think you got a weak spring, flip sides.

    I know, but it still doesn't pencil out. Some of the weight is shared by the front and rear, so it is actually pretty close to actual numbers.

    true you are correct. Like stated, maybe swap springs from left to right?

    I could, yes, but getting them off is a bugger :). It would be easier to switch the entire coilover, but they are specific left and right. I have another spring coming, so I will just replace it.

    Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
    Another factor that may not be figured into your math is torque induced by the swaybar if it is still connected. Only then would you have true independent suspension acting on each wheel.
