I think people are starting to realize going to a smaller displacement isn't always the best thing for efficiency/emissions. You clearly see this with trucks under load. Larger displacement engine rev at lower RPM's while smaller engines have to rev higher and breath less efficiently. I just bought a CPO '13 Tacoma with 47K on it and there wasn't a single rattle or squeak. Is the gen gap that huge that production quality has caused such a disparity in outcomes? It's my daily driver too and I have zero issues comfort wise.

No, people whined and complained about the gen 1 and gen 2 Tacos also. Irony is that you'll notice some of the ones complaining or bashing the gen 3 don't even own one. There are legitimate issues I'm sure some folks are having. But if you look at the ones consistently bitching and complaining, you'll notice they are the same people.
