My HF jack is over 20 years old and still works perfectly. Thankfully, $100-150 for another jack is better used elsewhere.

AT-205 Re-Seal for things like hydraulic seal leaks or seal leaks on your vehicle too.

 

Middle? What brand would you put above DeWalt?

 

I rented one of those coil compressors from Vatozone to put 885's on my 5100's.... assembly went OK, nothing a 1/2" Ingersoll-Rand impact gun hooked up to a 200 gallon 220v compressor couldn't handle. Well when I went to remove them the damn threads stripped, 1 on each shock so I was fucked. I loaded the whole thing into a bearing press, took the pressure off the top hat & cut the damn shafts on the spring compressor. Took the pieces back to Vatozone & told them to go ahead and charge my credit card. Sucks since it wasn't my fault but that's the chance you take when you rent. Next time will be the floor jack under LCA method or just pay a shop to use a legit compressor.

 

The lower price-point DeWalt is rebadged B&D. Their higher-end stuff is pretty good I think.

If you really want to go Upper Middle White Trash on your power tools - Hilti, Metabo, Proxxon - maybe Bosch but I think some of their stuff is coming out of China now.

I just picked up a Makita impact/cordless LiIon set - couldn't be happier.

 

Milwaukee/Hilti. That's more because of the customer service and sales rep I deal with in my company.
I personally have a Makita set I use and have a friend in the HVAC business who only uses DeWalt (and beats the shit out of them and they keep on ticking)

 

Milwaukee and Makita are a bit better quality from what I've experienced.

Internally they're very similar, but IMHO DeWalt is slightly the lesser.

 

I had a DeWalt sawzall nicknamed "The DoOver" for years back when I worked construction full-time. As in - whoops I fucked up that wall - go get me the DoOver.

It never skipped a beat - but it was a US made before a lot of the tools were off-shored. Sold it for what I paid for it -that was a mistake

 

Expensive bungee cords....

 

It's the Kobalt brand one from Lowes. It's the slim/black model. It's says BetterBuilt on the inside. I can get ya more pictures if ya wanted.

Here's a few pictures. The aluminum shiny one from Lowes, but they make a black model. Looks just like the BetterBuilt (same thing obviously because mine says BetterBuilt).

Ha! Yup. Went there for those bungee cords to make some ball/basketball/football holder thing for my garage. That'll teach the wife to look at Pinterest too much. Her project turned into my new tool chest.

 

I feel like DeWalt tools have went down hill the last couple of years. I used to be an assistant store manager at Home Depot and ever since most of their tools went to "assembled in the USA from global parts" I had nothing but returns and complaints. Ridgid brushless motors with lifetime batteries for me.

 

I was debating between yours and the 44" tool chest, with the 44" you can add additional pieces if you want.

 

My decision was based on the fact that I bought the 60 inch Milwaukee tool cart already. So I went with this one. Both solid choices for the money.

 

I would be happy with either one, because now my tools are spread between a 30 year old Craftsmans tool box and about 4 HF tools bags, so either one would make organizing my tools a lot easier + with a tool chest I have the option to lock them up.

 

Stopped in HF this morning and picked up a 3/8 drive 6 point deep metric socket set and some socket rails and a small hardware bin. Also non thread related I was able to save 40% off two items from the Sears store that is closing in my area. A 4 ton jack stand set and a ratcheting metric box end set.

 

Did I convince you on the sockets? haha Let us know how the socket rails work. I'd like to get some of my stuff out of the blow mold cases they came in.

 

The socket rails work pretty good.

They're thin and prone to bending when loaded up and carried wrong, but a good deal. I have probably 10.

 

I bought a set of metric and standard but haven't put much use into them yet.
