Everytime I call the stealership to check on parts/prices, they always ask for the VIN. In the past with other auto makers I'm only asked the VIN on occasion. A friend of mine said he had a buddy that worked at a Toyota dealer and he said they used the VIN to track what is being done to the vehicle outside of the service bay. Have any of you guys heard of this?

 

I have never heard that before. I was always told its just to make sure the part is accurate. Sometimes a manufacturer may switch to a new part for a particular item, but the old parts are still in stock at dealerships.

I know Entune downloads vehicle info when used with your phone. And yes Toyota tracks VIN through in house systems to monitor parts being ordered for their vehicles.

 

Got my TRD OR grille Line X'd today...they added the UV so it doesn't dull over time....cheaper then a Pro Grille and looks different which I like

 

What's the TSB number for the plugs?

 

I wonder what would have happened with one of these ?

 

I went to the dealer, told then this thing shifts like crap, told then about the TSB 0077-16, they did it right then! No problems!
