this is is turning into a tutorial on how to frame up restore a trail rig but i'm loving the play by play and progress @SGTCap . I am pondering how i can do something similar to my 81 but as you know very well without the space to do the work in its not going to happen. Got to get this metal building built so i can get to work.

That would be Eddie's handy work. I can't take credit there. That son of a bitch can stack dimes on a 2x4 if you ask him to. If you ever look at a SOS Concepts bumper you'll see it. Until recently he did all his own welding. He still does 75%.

I'm getting better, but when it needs to be pretty, Eddy comes and lays the bead.

Where are you at with the brakes? I went through this quite a few times on mine until I found the right combination of parts.

78 Eldorado calipers seem to be the go to for keeping the parking brake. There's gonna be some trial and error involved

Maybe @VanCity4x will chime in on how he did his

Yeah for sure, I just have Chevy calipers no e brake retained. As far as MC and booster and prop valve what did you go with?

Havent done it yet so we'll see. On Eddys SAS we didnt touch the MC and it works fine. I have the earlier style MC in my SAS project. Gonna start with a T100 MC and see how it acts and go from there. There will be some trial and error involved. Eventually I'd like to see this offered in an easy swap or kit form but it will take doing a few trucks first. I have two Tacomas to play with. One's already under the knife and the other may be shortly as well

Early 2000s tacoma dual diaphragm Booster, the are the smaller diameter but wider depth ones. T100 1.25 MC. I had a hard time with the onlines parts houses MC and luckily found a NOS Aisin one on eBay. The parts store one didn't have a long enough stroke and the brakes wouldn't release. I found a simpl JEGS prop valve to be better than the kit FROR sells that thing leaked and the fittings weren't right. Also if you get new rotors make sure you turn them mike were so far out. It was a huge pita to get to the end and a bunch of little brake stuff to hang us up.

Brakes are gonna be one of the next things I work on.

I actually thought I was replying to a different thread earlier when I mentioned the Eldo calipers. We're talking about 14bolts and brakes in there too.

Mine has a late model 14bolt with disks and a drum Ebrake in the hat. So for the rear I'll obviously leave all that and have a custom Ebrake cable made.

The front has the original 79 brake components. I'll probably replace all that with new pads rotors and calipers.

I got the mounting plate for the T100 MC from @NwiTACO, but I need to put it on and the MC so I can get the pushrod sorted out. Id like to eliminate the ABS box while I'm at it, bu haven't really jumped into that yet. Looks like a couple T's could do that for me without bending a bunch of new line.

If you don't mind I might ask you some questions later as I get into this. Sounds like you've been through a lot of trial and error with the brakes.

Yeah of course no problem at all, I'll do what I can to help. Not everything will work since I'm first gen and non abs but neither of our trucks came with t100 master cylinders and 1 tons yet here we are lol. Looking good glad to see you didn't listen to anyone when you first brought it home. Prove em wrong.

    SHIT NO.

    Live in learn.

Someone smarter than me told me this years ago
"Boy, there's all kinds of educations in the world. Ain't none of them free" I'm getting an education and it damn sure aint free.

That said, I'm not beat up or pissed off about it. I'll build it into what I want and probably have enough parts left over to cover hald the SAS on my other truck as well.

It'll work out in the end. But in retrospect, I should have looked it over more carefully, punched the seller in the mouth and told him to drag the raggedy piece of shit back to Tennessee.

Got a little more done this weekend. Got the passenger bed rail cut off and replaced. Just have the drivers side left to do. That frame rail is made already. Eddy is borrowing my torch right now. As soon as it's back friday I'll hack the drivers frame rail of and the new frame will be pretty much done.

All the welding in this post is done by me, so it's not as pretty as as the engine section:
