Double cab Off-Road has been around in Canada since Septemberish. It is not listed very well online, but it's there. Auto only though, unless you upgrade to the Pro. Stick in the Sport shortbox as well I think. As far as I know all double cabs have seating for 5. Maybe access cab has less, could you have been looking at that?

Biggest difference depends on your priorities:)

Off-road has rear locker, crawl control, mts, 16" rubber+bilstein shocks(softer ride) brake booster, no air dam, black fender trim, some kind of angle gadget(inclometer, pitch).

Sport has 17" rubber, firmer shocks, hitachi maybe?(little harder ride)and sunroof, tech package options, plus air dam, colour matched fender trim. Probably some other things I missed too, lol

There is a 2017 DC Off Road 4x4. I have one.

The Off Road and Sport Double Cabs both have seating for 5 - 2 buckets up front, front lower air dam, and a bench in back for 3. The Off Road Access Cab may only be designed for two in the back (not sure).

The Sport is more geared to street use - 17" rims, sunroof, different shocks, painted wheel arch mouldings, fake hood scoop. In Automatic, it only comes with a 6 ft bed. In Manual, it only comes with a 5 ft bed.

The Off Road has more off road features - 16" rims, black wheel arch mouldings, All-Terrain Select, locking diff, no air dam, etc. It comes Automatic only, and only with the short (5 ft) bed.

Ya and there is no option for Tech package, I tried to get that. But it does come with Prox key/push start and Navigation/backup cam. Just no JBL, QI charge, park assist/lane dep and sunroof.

Do you need to know, or care?
Any of these trucks are more than capable on any of the service roads you would probably be on unless you plan on doing some fairly extreme things, like rock-crawling. Not sure where you are, but I've been on lots of service roads here in BC and have never had any issues on any of them, including some that had me thinking twice about. Best advice I can give is don't go beyond your experience. If you say to yourself that you probably shouldn't be here, then don't go in the first place. Good luck on finding the right model that best suits you.

At the time $1500, but our dollar was a little better. Likely has gone up since then!

I don't think anything gets park assist/lane dep until next year (together with the other stop assist new safety features). My manual did come with the backup cross traffic alarm which surprised me one day, and has blind spot protection.

What the....who is your insurance provider and how old are you (64?)

I'm pretty old (mid 40's) - no accidents/tickets and my insurance is a hair over $1000 on my 2010!

I'm hoping in a few years they will offer the trd sport DC auto with a 5 ft box.

I stopped by my local dealer (Guelph) and the only two Tacoma's they had on the lot were identical minus the colour (blue vs. dark grey). Didn't get a snap of the dark grey, but I much preferred it over this blue. I'd love to get a PRO just to get that awesome cement grey colour but definitely not justifying the extra cost to get it.

Ideally I'd love a quicksand colour but my better half told me not to come home if I got that 'baby puke' colour, haha.

I'm curious on the insurance rates as it seems none of you are getting collision? With a new vehicle I'd think you would.

This does sound a bit low to believe. With a perfect record, and a special rate offered by Meloche Monex for professional designations, mine is around $1200-1400...closest compared rate I've found is $1800!!

I think to throw numbers like this out, the company and a few more details with it are warranted. I've never heard of $800 /year in these times!

Haha, I doubt it's any smoking deal. I'm in my 50's, clean record. I don't even know the insurance company name, my broker just put us with them this year after I bitched about wawanesa cranking out insurance way up. I have all my home, and farm insurance thru the same broker, but not the same insurance company. I do know if we get one ticket it goes up, two tickets it goes up again. A lot of insurance companies give you a free pass on one ticket. I'm also pretty sure you have to be over 50. I can dig up the paper work if anyone is that interested.

Wow I officially hate ICBC. I have a clean driving record with the maximum discounts. 43% off and I pay $1860 for the year. Thanks government monopoly used to fund Christy Clark's 1 billion dollar nest egg.

how the hell are you at $1860? Full collision and comprehensive? I was quoted $2800 and change..and I'm at 43% discount (9 years driving experience, I understand 10 years gets you more of a discount but I didn't think it'd be THAT much...)

Yes I have full coverage. 5 million uninsured motorist protection and all. I use the clause for no one under 10 years driving experience, also within 15 km to work and other discounts.

    All legit.

I have no idea why you are $1000 more. Please note that no one with under 10 years can drive my vehicle, along with the fact that I am within 15 km to work. If someone with under 10 years drives your truck they are uninsured.

My wife's 2015 CRV which she bought new was only $1700 to insure with the same coverage. Although she is more than 15 km to work.

Might want to check with your agent to see why you're paying so much. Something doesn't sound right.

I was quoted with the same package as you. What is your deductible? I went with $500 when I asked...with 5 mil liability and my work is less than 5km from my house haha
