You have a part number for our tire size? Want to make sure I pick up the right ones.

EDIT: opps looks like you may not have OEM tires.

I got those maxi pads for my birthday. You know the big orange ones you put under yourself when you get stuck like a pussy.

    Hopefully I won't need chains.

If you're going up into Sequoia or Yosemite area don't bother ha. I went up there with my Honda Fit and no chains and was passing dumb dumbs all day who were chained up and driving on pavement in their big SUVs just for the few slush/ice patches.

If you have an M+S rating on your tire you should be good to go anywhere.

Yose Rangers will and do check for chains and will make you chain up if CalTrans says to.

Everytime I've been checked they saw that I had properly rated tires (and chains in my back hatch) and let me go. Do they just make sure you have them with you, or on your tires? Because I had some, just definitely for sure absolutely did not need them. California drivers are just worthless ;)

California has 3 levels of chain controls that they issue depending on conditions (and possibly their whims) and which level they have in effect at the time determines what they demand. http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/chcontrl.htm

Depends. It's based off CalTrans road assessments.
It's pretty basic to decipher, I'm not sure why there's such compression issues...
R1- All vehicles-you have M/S tires on your drive axle, you're good.
R2- 4WD vehicles with M/S tires on all 4, good to go. All others must apply chains to drive axle. (But 4WD must carry chains)
R3- don't even go out in that shit. It will be over soon enough. Chains required on all vehicles, no exceptions.

Good old California. Somehow I keep ending up back out here haha.

South Dakota goes something like, don't crash, you might not be found.

In most of the southeast the rule goes like this: 1 inch of snow or more: everyone stop car wherever it is on the road, wait for help to come. Complain that there was no rescue attempt made even though you were 250 yards from a mall.

I was working in Arkansas during a couple of snow storms. Hands down the silliest most pathetic shit I ever witnessed. Stores sold out of bread and milk instantly after the first snow prediction. Cars were abandoned on the roads like a freaking post-nuclear apocalypse. And me and my buddy from the northwest just stocked up on beer and went everywhere playing in our 2wd pickup trucks with factory all season tires like it was nothing. Because the snow really was nothing.
