Let's see if there anything I need to update on here of my truck. Ummmm

 

Does your cap have a reinforced roof? Mine has that same drop down in the middle and I have no idea what it is..

 

Yes mine does have reinforcement. I double checked with an ARE dealer.

 

Sweet! I hope mine is reinforced as well. Mine is a innovation brand (apprently a SoCal brand but I live in Texas) and I can't find any info on it but it is a really nice camper

Installed my WaterPORT that came in the other day.

 

HOW TO: Install 40" Light Bar on FrontRunner Roof Rack

1) Order 93085K91 - Water and Weather Resistant Foam Rubber Flange-Mount Seals from McMaster.com

You will use this to fill in the spacing between the light bar and roof rack. This will prevent excessive wind noise.


2) Purchase 2x Grade 8 bolts, washers, and nuts. I don't remember the size, but I bought nuts that the big nut caps which come with the FrontRunner Racks will fit on. Also ensure your bolts are long enough to go through the rack but on to stick out too much of the nut. This will hinder the fitting of the nut cap. Look on the bottom right hand corner of the picture and you will see the cap I'm speaking about.


3) The attach the mounting brackets that came with the light bar to the light, have them facing inward. Place the light bar and brackets on to the roof rack that will be facing the front of your truck. Mark the center of the mounting brackets.

TRY TO CENTER IT AND HAVE THE LIGHT ITSELF FLUSH WITH THE FRONT OF THE RACK AS BEST AS POSSIBLE.



4) Drill two holes (1x on each side) large enough for your Grade 8 bolts.

5) Insert your McMasters Rubber seal into the grove of the rack itself. Ensure that the flap is sticking the direct that the light will be. In other words, the round part of the seal goes into the grove.

6) Once the Seal is installed, now install the light bar brackets. You will want to have the brackets a little lose to install the light afterwards on the rack itself. When light bar is secured to the rack place the nut caps on.

7) Now for the tricky part.

Take the two rack frames/load bearing bars that the roof rack sit on. Each of the brackets you will notice on the front mounting point a lip, you will need to cut this lip off. It should look like this afterwards:


Yes I cut it while the frames were still on the truck, I just cut it very carefully and covered the roof up.

8) Now that those lips are out of the way, you can now mount the roof rack with light bar. Grab a friend or a few, b/c your rack is pretty heavy now.

9) Once rack is seated properly according to the FrontRunner instructions you can bolt all of the rack up to the rack frame.

Wiring: I just ran the wiring down the side of the rack frame with one zip tie. With having a bed topper, I just ran the wiring between the topper/bed and the cab. Then I ran it underneath to the engine bay where by sPod SE system is located (driver's side). I custom did my wiring and wire wrap to ensure it is fully water proof.

 

Now that looks nice!!

New addition to the truck today. Picked up a hand built Tacoma Bed Storage Drawer system. Needs a little touching up but other than that, we cut a few side pieces to make it fit just right. Next I need a bedslide.

Fixed the side boards to fit between the side of the bed and the drawer. Now I have cubbies and places to mount things, like my WaterPort using Super Quick Fist clamps.



Next is cleaning and touch up paint.

for some reason i think i remember reading or hearing somewhere the dual compressor wouldnt work with spod something about too many amps or something

 

I'd like to see that if it's true, b/c talking to techs at sPOD it's fine and with others that run the system.
