Camping and Backpacking GEAR thread

I did a day hike of Half Dome this year (last year 2016) , I'm planing to get another permit and do Half Dome, Clouds Rest, and Cathedral Lakes this coming year.

 

Love my Storm. (It's the older one). All BD lighting stuff seems to be of high quality in my experience.

 

I want to do clouds rest, me and the girlfriend are going to do a little snow showing up there this monday coming up.

 

Valley didn't have enough snow for shoeing this morning, but there's a good looking storm moving in this afternoon that looks promising! High country is expecting 2-4 FEET out of this one. Going to make for some great skiing!

than in about a week going to all the national parks in southern utah and arizona!

 

Added a JB MiniMo to my stove collection. Wanted the MSR windburner but this JB was onsale for $95.

The elementary school I went to use to ski Badger Pass every Thursday, it's tiny but it's like home to me

 

After the Navy I used to night ski Boreal Ridge.

 

You have no alcohol stoves? Git on it!

 

One of the oldest in the state! We stay at a Glacier Point cabin a few weekends each winter. Love it up there!

 

Are you referring to the soda can style stoves?

 

Is this trail open and do able in winter? Suppose to snow up there this coming week I believe.

 

It's getting quite a bit of snow up in the basin soon, so that would be a hell of a hike with snow shoes. We do it to train for wild land fire season. Or look up rifle peak hike. it will be awesome for skiing(i'm going tomorrow haha)

While it looks good in print, it doesn't work as well as it should. Yes, tried that long ago. And, nope, ain't giving up the hammocks any time soon!

 

Yes. Or penny stoves or soda can. Or some of the dozens of others. I have so many, I can't count.

Hey, I need some input from you backpackers about what bed mat you use. Air pad? Self-inflating? Closed cell foam? What kind (or kinds) do you have? Would you recommend it? Have experience with one I should stay away from?
