I should do a build thread with ONLY links to other people's build threads for all the ideas that I've copied. I'll also tag the people that don't hav build threads but provide ideas for me to copy.

Welcome to TW :). Trying to find and remember every idea from whatever build I got it from and then linking it in my build would be so fuckin time consuming lol. F all that noise, if someone want's to know about something on my truck, I can point em in the right direction usually, but I'm not gonna cater to the millennials that can't use a search button

Bro I work in IT for a living. That Gif sums up what I dealt with on almost a daily basis when I was working as a consultant. But yeah, it's one of my favorite Gifs, I always laugh when I see it.

Devil's advocate questions from a millennial who's actually surviving on his own (26, career, own place, own car, etc.); is all this negative perception the fault of the millennial or the fault of the generation that raised them? For example, did we get participation trophies (I never did, so this was news to me when it became a trend) because we wanted them or because the parents were upset and couldn't take the fact that their kid didn't win? Serious question :crapstorm:

According to this dude, you were dealt a bad hand, as he said about 4 times in 15 minutes. However, I was always told that if you find you have something wrong with yourself, fix it. Bad paranting isn't restricted to certain generations. You appear to be doing just fine. But there are MANY millenials out there that aren't.

This is a good question. I was raised by my mom whom of which was always working and trying to pay to have a roof over my head and food in my belly... ole' man wasn't around much. I was never "spoiled", but lived a decent childhood, and I was able to have a special bond with my mom to where she trusted me and my judgement for when she couldn't be around as much. I was the kid who was working at the grocery store when I turned 16, while all my buddies were out partying and getting in trouble. Now, I'm 23 and I am a Analyst for a health insurance company with my own truck and living in Tiburon CA, with views that some older generation folks could only dream of seeing every day. I am beyond blessed, but I know that I also worked my ass off to get to where I am. Most of my buddies are still living the college life and have no worries but to turn that "F" grade in English class to a "C" so their parents will keep paying for their degree. I think its all a combination of how one was raised, as its ok to be there for your kid, and let them know that you have their backs for anything, but to also let your kid explore who they are, and let them mess up on their own every once in awhile.

The torphy thing is bs. My son has been playing sports for thae last 6 yrs.the looser torphys in my neighborhood went away with the teams we have played on. The first few yrs they did this it was half and half on perents that pushed it vs didnt believe in it. The last two yrs its closer to 75% dont think its cool. Now that said im in a higher class neighborhood. I cant speak for other communities. But the one thing i have learned about upper class neighborhoods vs the shitty ones i grow up in. Is for the most part the kids arnt competitive in the higher class areas in sports as they are in grades. They care more about getting good grades then being a star athletes. And the teams my son has played for has taught him that loosing dosnt mean giving up, we keep tring harder until we succeed. I think the whole millenial thing is just a stereo type, just like gen x, emmo, skater, jock, ect. If it dosnt aplly you dont take personal. I came from a bad childhood, and in my 20s i woke up and realized that without an education i would be dooomed to a life of mimimun wage. Well with no highschool deploma i did what i could to suport my wife and kid. And did well workinng warehouse jobs/ construction. Finding a way to get out of lower class into middle class isnt easy. With zero support from your family. My ? Is what classor stereo type do i belong to.https://youtu.be/thyJOnasHVE
    Sory for the rant.

Good rant. The trophy thing is BS. But, it's still out there. Thankfully, not in your hood. Good parenting teaches that success isn't cheap. You have to work hard, and you will fail. Not dead, don't quit. Nothing is free. As I stated earlier, bad parenting isn't exclusive to one generation. But advanced technology has impacted in negative ways, as well as the positive. When I was a kid (I know, walked to school, uphill, both ways) we were outside socializing everyday. Our heads weren't buried in computers and phones. Played hard, beat each other up, won, lost. Learned to take it and move on. Every generation has that "Kids theses days, I tell ya" moment. But, based on the things I see in my own family, there are some real entitlement attitudes. Sadly, in some adults, as well.

I work with high schoolers and they definitely are a different breed - well most of them. But one of the things that I've told some people (with a little apprehension because I don't have kids myself and who am I to judge) is that I thought that a lot of the parents were to blame for some the entitled and stupid ass behavior. So @jqueener saying the same thing kinda confirms that - although I know every case is different.

I also work with several parents (when their kids need meetings, etc), and I've seen a lot of really good parents - and it shows with their kids. I've also met several shitty parents and that also shows.
