Shocked and Upset to say the least....

So I went to Ocotillo Wells this weekend to go quad riding and offroading. Overall I had a great time however my truck did not. My tranny....umm took a dump kind of. Its not dead yet but I can tell something happened. I did not do anything crazy. Regular offroading I normally do. On the way home it was jerking when changing some of the gears. And from 4th to 5th it would shift into neutral for 2 seconds then pop into 5th. Not good. And the really sucky part....Im at exactly 36,700 miles. Am I SOL?

 

All depends on how cool your dealership is. Deffinatly sounds like its going to take some work. Hopefully someone can chime in that knows more

 

Isn't the drivetrain warranty 60,000?

Either way, take it in ASAP. Sounds like your torque converter is taking a shit.

 

take it to the dealership no matter what to get an opinion. If they need to replace the tranny then wait and find a used tranny on ebay or craigslist, i dont know off the top of my head, but its just 8 or so bolts on each end of the tranny, plus some wiring and fluid to swap it. If its just a cheaper fix from the dealership then just go ahead.

Dude...Don't sweat it @ all. You're good. I suggest you do take a lot of time to clean up the truck. Change out the Differential Oil to make it clean. No sign of mud/oils in case. You're well within the warranty range. You should also state you were doing normal driving and it did this. Which you do...

Sounds like you are still under warranty but double check & see what exactly the terms are & what percentage the dealer covers (should be all with that few miles) & as long as you haven't unreasonably abused your truck (any signs of damage done to under carriage & any vulnerable engine parts) I wouldn't do any kind of extra cleaning or trying to "MASK" that you offroad some, that might make them really start to look around...I dunno, just my opinion..........

 

Thanks. I will clean it good inside and outside but just rinse the chassis off. My friend owns a little shop so I will be taking it to him in the morning to put it up on the lift and make sure nothing is jacked up.
