There is a lot of hoping there, why not be the stronger guy and just ignore people that piss you off, unless they hit your car or cause an accident??

What are you using to edit videos or cut the clips down? Mine are in 5 min segments from the cam and I don't want to upload/post that long of a video for a 3 second close call clip.

Sounds like my accident a couple years ago, got rear ended by a heep cherokee, totaled both of our vehicles and damaged a civic that I got thrown into.

    Glad it wasn't worse!

Downloaded LightWorks video editor and cut down my close call from the 2nd.

So Why do you get dash cams?
    Just curious

To help in court to show fault?
    Insurance?

Time for a real dashcam, Tucson is terrible. Any of the videos in this thread would be an almost daily sight. It's one reason why I miss my beat up old F-250 people were rarely stupid enough to cut me off, and if they were, they moved pretty quick once they realized bug trucks don't slow down very easily.
Road rage is also fairly common, so the Glock is there, hopefully never needed, but there just in case.

That's why the Russians have them. Video evidence is hard to dispute.

Almost squished a bicyclist who rode across a red light. Ordered a cam that night. Not worth trying to explain that it really wasn't my fault and hoping for good witnesses when I can just pull up video footage.

Saw this on another forum. Dashcam *more* than paid for itself.

Camera-guy is at a red light and the SUV in front of him shifts into reverse and backs into the front of his car. SUV-driver is all apologetic, they exchange insurance info but SUV-guy asks camera-guy to get a couple repair quotes hoping maybe they can work it out. Next day SUV-guy doesn't respond to texts/calls. Camera-guy calls SUV-guy's insurance to file a claim... only to find that SUV-guy had filed a claim stating Camera-guy had rear-ended him...

People will do anything to shift the blame to someone else, and I love seeing it backfire. The SUV driver may get hit with insurance fraud. It was clearly intentional, so... assault with a motor vehicle or would that be a stretch?

Years ago I had an incident where the other guy blatantly lied to the police officer who showed up to take the report and I got a ticket for something I didn't do.

I spent a bunch of time/effort building a defense and go to traffic court. Other guy never appeared for his summons and prosecutor offered for me to plead guilty to a non-moving violation and pay $80 in various bullshit costs. I took it simply because it was a he-said-she-said situation and it'd have meant ANOTHER day off work some other time to go back to court.

If I'd had a dashcam I could have proven they guy's lie right at the scene.

So yeah, since dashcams started to get reasonably good I've been thinking about them and finally pulled the trigger.

yeah those are all the reasons I assumed, I think I remember seeing a video similar to that escapade one, where the guy did the "accident" himself and pulled the same it's your fault thing and said he was hurt to try and get more money out of it. I've heard of people causing the accident then pulling the "We won't deal with insurance or police if you just give me X amount of dollars...
I should get one the more I think about it, I think my new Kenwood ddx373bt is compatible too.

subbed to see carnage, left wanted a dash cam to save my ass incase shit hits the fan haha
thanks TacomaWorld for spending more money for me haha:drunk:
