Walmart lets travelers stay overnight on their parking lots.

Edit: someone beat me to it.

    ...we'll get there.

Find a town with a few Walmarts and you're set for the long term!

Or be a good tenant and offer someone $50 for some unused land. I had a guy willing to let me park that camper and look a blind eye to my comings and goings for $30.

I could do it and have thought about it as a possibility in the near future but yeah I would need a garage for my toys.

I didn't think I could until I started talking to people involved in the tiny home industry. I think with land and a place to work I could swing it. After seeing how big the market is getting I have seriously considered starting to build them for customers. Some of the homes I have seen are very nice and there are folks who pay a premium for the well built ones.

I like the idea but if it came down to it I would opt for a nice small travel trailer instead. My neighbor has one at the lake near by and it's a pretty sweet seat up.

Seems like people spend too much for a tiny house, at least on tv. I see ads for new double wide furnished trailers in the paper for way less.

I'm thinkin barndaminium type thing with small living space and big shop/garage all in one. Of course that isn't anything you can just pick up and haul around with ya.

I saw people at the Tiny House Jamboree in Colorado Springs GD putting down serious money on some units. In areas where housing costs are high or vacation areas they sell pretty well. Some of them are very impressive.

My idea of a tiny house would be in the neighborhood of 1200-1500sqft. Not really tiny I guess, but these homes they show on TV that are around 200sqft are completely unrealistic for 99% of the population. There are always folks who can do it and it works out great, but for the vast majority of people there's just no way it would work full time. I get that people want to downsize, myself included, but I think most greatly underestimate just how much stuff they really have, even after getting rid of most of the crap they've accumulated over a lifetime. It seems to me that most of the people on these shows want to either lessen their "footprint" on the planet or be able to move around when they want. As to their footprint I would suggest a small (see above size) highly energy efficient home with systems in the likes of solar, geothermal, wind, foam insulation and so on. A home like that might be slightly more up front but it would save you money every month and for decades thereafter. If you want the ability to move around with a small home....get a travel trailer. Just one man's opinions.

Haha honestly an average home size is probably 10-20 times the bed of our trucks. Around 300-600 sf. My garage is twice that here!

Yeah I cannot imagine not having a nice size garage but I bet you won't need one over there since most people commute by public transportation!

I was j/k about those weird hotels, wasn't assuming the houses were like that & yeah I could live in something as small as our triple garage.

I like the idea of a tiny house. you put it on a big sum of land and make your kids play out doors and do out doors shit they should only be in the house after dark anyways. you get one with a fire place a decent size living room and just enough room for people to sleep and be set super cheap and wouldn't raise a bunch of panzi ass baby kids that are scared of dirt
