Well the rattle can came back after the bang on it and hope it goes away temporary fix. Did find a good use for all those business cards from toyota reps. In other news, I need to clean my dash.

Well after driving today, the velcro strips seemed to have fixed my tapping noise.

Nice!!! Did the tapping go away with that method??? I choose the clean route...small cut pieces of velcro one where your business card is, and one piece just fwd.

It stopped it for now anyway. Had it a little further forward and it was still creaking so moved it there and that seems to work. Probably take the a-pillar off Saturday for a better solution

I should have used something other than tooth picks. The other day I noticed one of them was missing and the other was headed in the wrong direction. How the heck am I going to retrieve that MIA tooth pick ?

    UPDATE:
Dec 6th i was investigating the noise from the passenger side dash/speaker/A pillar area. I took both hands and firmly pushed on the A pillar cover pushing toward the windshield and also toward the passenger side. As of today i am happy to report the sound has yet to return. I am sure the sound was caused from friction between the dash speaker grill and the a pillar plastic.

I had this fixed a few months ago but noticed the noise was coming back so I went out at lunch to check and sure enough, I put a little pressure on the molding and it snapped as if it locked into place. I will see if this completely fixes the noise.

it's that for sure, i can see a high point where that point in the speaker has cut a grove into the pillar.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one this bugged the shit out of.

I'm glad I found this thread. I noticed my dash started to rattle about a week ago. Holy hell its been driving me crazy. It certainly seems the cold weather has something to do with it. No rattle or issues during the summer months.

I noticed that I had the same wear spot that others had mentioned, so stuck a piece of cardboard in the joint and the sound went away. I've been driving it for a week now and the noise hasn't come back. So glad to have this resolved.

Yup, I had the same issue crop up recently. Pushed in on the A pillar, heard it snap into place, and gone. Yay!!!

OK, this is what's odd to me about all of this. I posted my experiences with this issue about a month ago. Took it in, showed them my YouTube video (because it wouldn't do it while shop foreman rode with me of course) and an hour later they said they ordered a new speaker cover. On backorder, five weeks now.

So, I get home, remove the old cover and find one tab in back broken, one at front and one clip in the middle missing. Did they not have a shop manual showing them how to remove it? They only ordered a new cover because they broke half the tabs on the old one. In any case, I removed the cover and have left it off and for five weeks and it has rattled every time I get it in it! So, if the cover is not on there, it cannot be related to the cover/ pillar chaffing, correct? FYI, mine is loud as hell when it does it and it's an embarrassment every time someone gets in- I have an open speaker and a bad ass rattle on a Toyota Tacoma with less that 5K miles!

Could still be that pillar rub some other place. At least for mine and few others here, that was the issue. Hopping yours is not something else.

I'm not sure if it worked yet, but I ran out to the truck just now. I pushed forward on the A pillar on the bottom as some have done and it actually moved forward at least half an inch before "locking" into place! Maybe more. I'll see if it alleviates the tapping and report back this afternoon...
