This is a big deal apparently because at some point (hearsay from dealer service manager) the mats slipped and bunched up under the pedals causing an accident or incident. Now it's part of their standard inspection process to always ensure the mats are installed correctly and locked into place, particularly on the drivers side.

Hearsay? You don't remember the Toyota floor mat recall crisis of 2009 that made national headlines?

No I was enjoying my flawless 1st Gen tacoma back then and had no need to visit forums to investigate problems and report on the numerous issues like my 3rd gen has had

Yes there is but but majority of it when I scroll down is not. And its way way more than Toyota. I know the Colorado been around a year before. And the duplicates are all revised updates to the original.

I'm not sure what the internet has to do with this. It made national headlines. As in you'd have to be living under a rock to miss it.

Don't worry. Smitty is trying to make it look like Colorado's have less. You know, because the 3rd gen Tacoma is the worst vehicle ever made. So it has to have more TSB's.

Worse part; they were chopping accelerator pedals. Often times, without the owner's knowledge.

I'm not worried. I have worked Alot with all truck makes and models and I'll take my 3rd gen over any other mid size.

There's a podcast by Malcolm Gladwell called Revisionist History that has an interesting episode on this, "Blame Game" I think it's called...

Do you need to know, or care?
All of this is true, but Toyota left out one important part in the ECU programming that the other auto makers didn't. When foot is on brake and gas at same time, cut engine power. They learned their lesson!

Number of TSB's doesn't tell the whole story. More TSB's could mean the company is more aggressive at fixing issues. All new productions of this scale will have unforseen issues. Toyota is no different, unfortunately from what I've seen so far is that they are much slower to fix problems or simply just say "it's normal," no matter how aggravating the problem is, thus no TSB needed.

For example, like the driveline howling is a big one. Normal. The TSB for the vibration coming to a stop has left out certain vehicle configurations that have the issue, and they've maintained a clause to say "some vibration" (which is the most non scientific way you can put it) is normal, even though I have not been in another vehicle yet (apart from having actual issues) where that type of vibration exists. And these aren't the only issues getting the run around....
