    Haha well got to make sure the neigbors know when I get home! I wont mind the tone. This little truck has nothing on the noise my old mustang in high school made. That thing could wake the dead

    Not sure if I have a transmission issue.

    95% of the time transmission shifts are smooth. 5% I get an odd shift from 1st to second. Feels like the transmission went into neutral momentarily, solidly shifts into the next gear, but of course its a bit harsh because the RPM's have climbed.

    Been reading up on bad shift solenoids, and the descriptions of bad shift solenoid(S) sound spot on.

    The only issue that I'm not sure of is in most cases, a bad shift solenoid is supposed to trigger a check engine light. I'm getting no CEL except during the normal startup check.

    around 80k on the transmission and the fluid has been swapped out 40k miles ago.

    Do our transmissions trip the CEL?

    @gearcruncher want to educate me?

    Our little bit about phone mounts the other got me looking. HOLY SHIT!!! Ram mounts are freaking awesome! I guess I had never paid attention to them before. I don't like the idea of mounting by adhesive or suction, so I think I'll use this as a base.

    http://panavise.com/pdf_indash/75137-999.pdf

    (anyone here used this?^^^^)

    Then, attach a RAM mount to that. I really like the look of the RAM X mount, but I need the ability of one-handed retrieval so I think Ill use their magnetic mount.

    The panavise link isn't opening for me...but if it's the in dash mount that connects to the right side of the radio...then yes, that is what I use and I love it with my RAM mount!!!

    I've got one on order, along with some RAM mount stuff and a 7" tablet for navigation. Should be working on that this week.

    Monte uses one for his HAM radio IIRC.

    I got a little mod happy and bought the RAM mount and RAM magnetic plate.

    I can't decide if I want to use the PanaVise mount or not. Anyone drilled and mounted one of these directly to the dash?

    I had never considered the RAM mounts before you linked that a few days ago. Ha ha. Thanks.

    I do have a huge phone. I used my iPhone 4 for 4 years until last week. I could stick it anywhere. I now have a 6s+. MF'er won't fit anywhere. Ha ha. That's what started me down this rabbit hole.

    I'm glad you brought that up about the Panavise having some movement. I might see if I can find a suitable location to hard mount the thing to the dash and rig up some kind of backing plate for it.
