2016 NCAA Football Thread

Well, you'd have 5 conference champions and 3 more teams. This year, that would have ended up including Penn State and 3 more - Western Michigan, undefeated, arguably deserved a shot and two more teams (could argue about that last two, but there were plenty of deserving teams). 64 teams in the basketball tourney is flat out exciting and there's nothing wrong with a "Cinderella" team having a shot, makes it more exciting. I'd certainly vote for at least 8 (maybe not more though, since it takes a week to play a round in Football ...).

 

They play a LOT more regular season games in basketball.

If you have 8 teams, and the number one team ends up having 1 loss, then you could potentially have a team in the playoffs with 3 losses.

3 losses out of 12 games. They lost 25% of their games....Didn't play a conference champ game, got more rest....


At most, 6 teams. At the very most. You get the 5 power 5 conference champs, and one "Cinderella" or deserving Non Power 5 Conference champ like Western Michigan.

 

I just have this feeling about Clemson this year. Like, destiny or some shit. I dunno.

They have a chip on their shoulder, which I don't like. But, Bama has a different mindset than most other teams.

Its really a coin flip.


Last year, I thought Bama would blow them out. Didn't happen.

 

Yes, Clemson is VERY confident and their quarterback was screwed on the Heisman, even though he is not making a stink about it. Definitely have to give them the edge on "intangibles".

Getting back to the expanded playoff, how does 6 even work? Would you make the bottom 4 play in the first round to get it to 4?

 

Absolutely, Give 1 and 2 a bye. With that being said I don't want the playoff bigger than 4

 

I am fine with the 4.....but with more teams you could have a team like USC, who started out rough, but will probably end 3/4 in the finally rankings, in the playoffs. In addition to a team like Penn State who I think should have been in over OSU.

 

I would like to major bowl games played in cold climates. USC basically had a home game this year . The same wihen LSU is in the sugar bowl

I've said this before in here. Why would you want to make college football, a sport important for 6 months, and turn it into college basketball, a sport important for 1?

Yeah everything seems to be setting up right for Clemson. I'm typically one to go with the contrary though, making me thing Bama's gonna come out and put a whooping on them.

Yep, plus giving 1 and 2 a bye further incentives winning in the regular season.
