    FYI;

    All things being equal, a wider, shorter contact patch (like from a larger, wider tire running at lower psi) is more likely to cause a tire to 'float' and lose traction, especially on hard packed snow. A narrower, longer contact patch will provide better traction on the same surfaces.

    There's a lot of physics that goes into it, but the broad strokes can be found here:

    3rd sentence states "If you're likely to drive through deep snow this year, you'll want winter / snow tires and wheels in sizes that help put the laws of physics on your side. - See more at: http://blog.tirerack.com/blog/hunte...-tires-better-for-winter#sthash.bHZSXhwP.dpuf" maine may be different depending where you live but MAYBE once a year im forced to drive through unplowed "deep" snow. maybe my idea of deep snow is different but rarely if ever have i felt a vehicle "floating" more often than not its hard pack ice. and i still think a bigger contact patch and softer tire would help in this situation. almost like buying tires for the exception. yeah ive gone in mud puddles once or twice but i wont be buying MT tires next

    I reset mine at 32ish so my low temp threshold is probably different than yours or the next persons. When changing pressure, you hold the button under the dash and it resets. Based on your logic, my light should be on?

    If 32 is your average (it is) lets do a little math. 32-1=31! 32+1=33! Holy shit we are still not greater than 1 psi off average anywhere are we? Or am i doing math wrong too?

    Agreed. Why would a direct TPMS system have anything to do with how one tire relates to another?

    lol, you never specified "average". And do I really have to go out and drop the air pressure some to prove you wrong?

    After a quick google, the baseline appears to be 20% or 6-7PSI loss. So since mine was set at 32, which would put the low threshold at 25.6 and the light was on with the tire 25. My door sticker says 29, so 23 or lower should trigger it on a truck from the lot assuming it was initially reset at 29.

    I believe it has to drop 10 percent to kick the light.

    Fluctuates from 30-32, front tires don't seem to hit any lower than 31.

    Promise it has to do with variation in pressure instead of just pressure. Been to 20psi without a light more than once

    From the service manual:

    (h) Rapidly reduce the tire pressure for each wheel at least 40 kPa (0.4 kgf/cm 2 , 5.8 psi) within 30
    seconds.

    That looks like it's just to test that the system is updating and not necessarily the threshold but did find this right after that section
