I'd say you owe him at least dinner and a six-pack of beer. That's a sweet DIY oil catch-can, my friend!

Just kidding, I'd tell the service dept. that they owe you at least a new belt, and an inspection, maybe even the next oil change free.

Let me rephrase that.... another reason why ill never take my truck anywhere but my own garage to get work done.

Done every single oil change in my truck but one, and that was due to the fact it was at the dealer getting a leafspring tsb done. I stood by my truck the entire time and stopped the oil change boy and head service mechanic from moving my truck without oil in it. Needless to say they all got a huge earful.

People do make mistakes. Even the best person does. Are you going to say in your career you have NEVER made a mistake in your job? It happens. Good thing that you caught it when you did on your truck of course.

Yeah I understand... kinda.... I'm expecting a new belt and hopefully the lad who messed up can learn his lesson by scrubbing my entire bay clean.

Honestly I have worked at a dealership for 2 years and I can say I have seen that happen more then once.... but my dealership does stick to customer service and they always did the right thing.

Its great that Toyota gave us the oil filter drain port but they left it incomplete. IMO

I added a rubber tube and ran it down to the skid plate.

Yup.... I stopped them in their tracks real quick before they attempted to start the truck and move it off the lift.... to add insult to injury I had been under my truck showing the head service mechanic how to measure drivline angles as he didnt understand / know how to read the TSB document... oh AND he was using my tools to do so as he failed to order the right ones.

They also looked at me funny when i pulled out the torque wrench and went through every bolt they would of touched when they finally replaced my leaf pack.

They also got an earful when a two lugnuts were all of hand tight....

Needless to say... NEVER EVER GET YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED BY VENTURA TOYOTA!

Problem with that is it will drip even after the oil change which makes a mess of your garage.

This happened to me a few years ago after dealer oil change. I noticed weird noise within a few blocks of driving out of there. Pulled over, and found a cut up bottle and oil all over the engine bay. Went back and they washed my engine bay. I drove maybe less than 2km like that however. I would demand them to make it right, clean up and new belt.

I just leave the oil pan under it until I'm done, also have an OCC that drains the same way.

I would also like to add that it's been about 1500 miles but only 2 weeks... I drive about 90 miles a day so it adds up quick
