Sandblast. POR15 absolutely loves sandblasted metal. That crap almost killed my grinder trying to take it off a section of frame that I had to add a bracket to when I rebuilt the frame on an Airstream.

Put a factory roof rack on her today. Should make hauling around my 12 foot kayak a lot easier!

That's a lot handier than running power. How do you like the YI? What made you choose that?

    a bunch of new/used parts....and some skids.
The rust is actually very minimal! I was surprised after I saw the initial photos online.
I think the guy with the shop across the street has a sandblasting set up.
Going to hit it with a wire wheel and see how far I can get in an afternoon. If it doesn't budge, i'll bring it across the street.
So you're saying: sand blast, prime, paint, then a POR 15 treatment?
how about: Remove rust(sandblast or wire wheel), prime with rust inhibitor, paint in thin coats?

How I did it was sandblast, rinse sand blast residue off, hot air dry, POR15. POR15 suggests their products to degrease and then their etching product before painting bare/old metal. With sandblasting, you just need to get it dust free then paint POR15 straight onto bare metal. Word of caution, it doesn't stick well to unblasted smooth metal even after using their products to prep it. It chips and peels off in very large pieces. Found that out on parts of the original frame that didn't get blasted. The new frame pieces that I sandblasted had very good adhesion, I'm not kidding when I say I had to use a grinder to get that crap clear so I could weld an additional piece on for an outside shower box.

Its so simple to install with that cable, I was surprised no one else has done this.

I like the YI, I have their action camera and for the price I couldn't resist. They're really nicely built surprisingly and it has a built in crash sensor thing that saves any of that data as "important" and also i like the easy connecting to the phone so its easy to review videos.

On a side note, if anyone is interested I can ask my buddy if he'd be interested in selling a few cables as a group buy?

yeah there's a few options out there for sure. I know some on Amazon are actually made by the same company in my previous links. The only thing about the ones on amazon, from what I noticed, the color selection for the led lights on the switch isn't as good. I ordered one off them and they only had it in white blue and red but on the actual website I could have got stock amber. I'm hoping red will blend in just as well tho haha. I also didn't do too much reaserch and kind of jumped the gun on the purchase haha There's also some on amazon made by MicTuning some random Chinese company if I'm not mistaken haha the only issue I had with mictuning is I ordered a usb port from them, on the site it said it would fit in the console under the ac controls. It most certainly did not, and no customer service, just a random email address that wont email you back haha

Thanks for the info. Sorry for being such a noob, I didn't realize that you had your tire/wheel info right there on your profile. I will definitely look into those nerfs after I get my tires and lift done in a couple weeks.
