I'm gonna be ordering a front and trans skid it looks like shipping on them is only 60 bucks and comes UPS/FEDEX and that's actually really awesome

 

Yeah, ordering the shipping on the sliders was $125, not bad at all! Thankfully we're not far from Baltimore. It don't think it would cost anything extra to ship on the pallet from what I've seen others do, saves you $60 for other activities.

If anyone is ordering from Mobtown and shipping somewhere in January I can add to my pallet if you'd like to save money. Just contact Mobtown, I'm OK with it.

 

I might just have too look into this when I order. Did you go bolt on or weld on ? I'm thinking of going weld on to save some $$. I just thought about it and my bumpers and skids and your sliders will all be here around thee same time.. Install party at my place maybe? ?

 

I went bolt on, didn't want to do weld on since it's more of a pain and the truck is still fairly new.

Once I get the sliders, I have to prep and paint them, still not sure what I'll be doing for paint. Did you get yours p/c or doing something yourself?

 

From what I've seen and read, most people just rattle can them, since they usually take a beating anyway.

 

Here's what I did: Clean with POR15 Marine clean & a good wipe of lacquer thinner. Then POR15 phosphoric spray, then POR15 paint. Let dry, scuff with ScotchBrite, top coat with spray on bed liner.

 

Selling my winter wheels and tires. Since the leveling kit these seem a little small. Used 1 season, general altimax 245/75/16 .34" of tread left. New tires have .375" of tread depth. Steel rims have no rust but some light scratches. No tpms. Come with lug nuts.

No sir the front and rear bumpers are bare steel and so will the skids I can't see myself paying for all that powder coating on stuff that will probably end up getting scratched/beta up a little. I am however clueless on a paint option for them. I'd like to do like a rough coarse bed liner paint in flat black on the bumpers and something like a RUSTO rattle can in a flat black for the skids and some sore of clear coat/ paint protection product of some sort. I'm definitely still researching things and I'm open to opinions please help......... PLEASE. .hahaha

 

Well this is pretty much exactly what I was thinking any idea how much of all the products I'll need and how many coats of the bed liner did you do. ?

 

Go to Albert Kemporele (used to be Painter's Edge) on Meriden Rd and get the starter POR15 kit. Call first to make sure they have it in stock. Otherwise Gary's on Watertown Ave. A pint can goes a long way. Shake the can a bit, and then poke a small hole at the top edge with a nail. Squeeze out a little into a disposable container and put a sheet metal screw in the hole to seal it or it'll turn rock hard. Two coats are all that's needed. It's thin as water. You'll also want cheap chip type paint brushes - Ocean State variety and toss them when done. Gloves would be helpful too. This stuff won't wash off if you get it on your skin - it'll be there for a few weeks.

I did a couple of coats of bed liner - Duplicolor from Advance.

The sliders for my FJ came bare.
After de-greasing, they got 3 coats of self etching primer and 3 coats of rattle can semi gloss black.
I also put 3M non skid strips on top.
