If you're doing 99% highway driving why aren't you looking at buying a highway tire?

On my frontier I replaced AT tires with Kumho Crugen HT51 and my God did the truck drive better. So much smoother, tighter steering, better wet and dry grip, better soaking up of road imperfections and way cheaper.

I just installed a set of 265/75-16 Falken Wildpeak AT3's from DiscountTireDirect.com, got em on a Black Friday deal, after rebates, $388 shipped!

They are absolutely fantastic in all aspects in the 1000miles I've driven thus far! On/off road, highway speeds, heavy rain, etc... silent, great ride, look fantastic, great on loose dirt/mud, and they have a 55k mile treadwear warranty! Hard to believe, but I like them much better than my KO2's or my Duratrac's. Better than Terra Grappler G2s. Check em out.

I don't know what the "Bro's" banter is all about, nor do I care... personally I think all the chest swelling and posturing has no place on a forum. Keep derogatory, fallicly insecure comments to ones self please. Actual experiential input would be much easier to come by without all the BS filler.

    Not hatin, just sayin...

I'm looking at both tire weight and wheel weights as I search for the combo I'll end up purchasing.

I ran Nitto Terra Grapler G2s on my Tundra. Leaning this direction, in stock size, when I switch out the stockers.

Here's the size/weight chart for the Terra Grapplers.

Seriously, these crugen ht51 are like 100 a tire in our sizes and they drive amazingly in dry wet and snow.

10' TRD Beadlocks, LTX MS/2s , Skid Plate, Roof Rack , Tonneau, Full Stereo System w.DVD 17' TRD Pro 17s, TRD PRO Grill, TRD Pro Rigid Fog Lights, TRD Pro Tails, TRD Pro Knob, TRD Pro Bugle and Hood Decal, 265/70/17 BFG KO2s (C), TRD Skid Plate, OEM Tri Fold Tonneau, OEM Roof Racks, TRD Exhaust Tip, All LED Lighting, Tacoma Matte Tailgate Lettering, OEM Rear Bed Step, Remote Start, Locking Tailgate
I have Michelin LTX MS/2 265/70/16 LOAD E 10 Ply on TRD Beadlocks on my 2nd Gen as pictured below.
MS2s are the best "road" tire on the market, i use them for years on our work trucks, they last forever
and are very quiet. HOWEVER they are HEEAVVYYYYY !!! I know they make them in a P for passenger which
brings them to a 6ply and have better MPGs etc and a softer ride.

On my 2010 G55 I have Firestone LE2s and theyre unreal in performance and road noise. 517HP
and its hard to break traction. Heavy bay area rain, no problem, Tahoe snow never an issue and the
price is the awesome !! But they dont have the "look" I want.

Moving onto my 3rd gen i just picked up, I just ordered my TRD Pro 4Runner wheels. I want an agressive
looking tire thats lightweight and quiet. I do NO offroading . I always wanted the AT/2 ill spend the extra
coin for Michelin im a big fan but Ive never owned them. Everyone else an their uncle raves of the K02s.
They look GREAT but how do they sound on the HWY. My 3rd gen is so so so quiet i dont want to ruin that
or having the Tech Package and bluetooth hands free phone is pointless and was expensive.

Any insight here?I know this thread will go on for years. But looking for someone who has actually owned
both tires . BFG K02 and Michelin AT/2 in 6ply.

    Cheers

The kumhos I posted above are a design imitation to the LTX MS/2 and they are not heavy at all. They are just 33 lbs each in that size. I know they may not be providing the "look" that you want but believe me when I say that if you're not using an AT tire for its intended purpose you'll be way happier with a highway tire.

I know I'm pimping these tires hard here but I replaced shitty Micky Thompson STZ ATs after just 1000 miles of use on my Frontier because I hated them so much and replaced them with the HT51s and my God the truck drove insanely better. Like I couldn't believe how much better.

there's probably a bunch of guys that talk about bro status when it comes to KO2s.

I actually really hate them lmao.
Over rated, over priced, noisy, MPG killing garbage.
There's so many better tires on the market compared to them.

I'm curious what the lightest aggressive tire is.
    hell cooper ST maxx is 59lbs in a 275 70 17.

I think it really comes down to where you live and how you drive though for MPG.
Because I've heard plenty of guys with 33s that have the same tires as others claiming they get 20mpg, yet another gets 15.

Please shre the "better" tires you speak of? But please only the ones that You yourself have personally tried not what you heard ?

And do you still think that the BFG in load range C is still miles per gallon killer

most of the sizes I'd consider are often only E rated so not sure if the C rated would be better.

    I've had KO2s
    KM
    KM2
    Duratracs
    Cooper ST Maxx

And driven and been in vehicles with STT Pro, Mickey Thomsons, and general grabbers. and driven KO2s in my cousins FJ

I personally love the ST Maxx, they aren't the greatest on MPG, but by far one of the best, more durable All terrains on the market. Had them on my jeep and considering them for the tacoma.
The General Grabbers were great on my friends rubicon, Duratracs aren't bad. the KM2s are pretty good but really loud as is any mud tire. The STT Pro is a great mud but way too loud for my liking and terrible tread wear.
mickys are way to loud and really nothing that great in mud.

    I'm starting to consider the discoverer AT3s though as I just checked I can get a 275 70 17 in C rated.
If the KO2s were about $60-$75 cheaper per tire they wouldn't be that terrible. But they suck in mud, are noisy as a metal concert and I dont care if they are winter rated are not, for Ontario winters especially in northern ontario they are an utter piece of shit. I know some on here say they are ok in the winter but not for the winters we get here.
Once you get into the -30C and the ice we get they are complete shit. Duratracs are better in the snow.
Not that many AT are ever all that great in rain but the KO2s are legendary for their terrible aquaplaning

I've heard great things about the General Grabbers and from when I was in my friends jeep with them they were pretty good. if they made them in a 32 I'd consider them
