Thinking of a Cat Back for better MPG????

    A company did a mpg comparison between a stock, muffler only, and a complete cat back exhaust system. Tests were performed on the same vehicle. MPG was measured on a dyno to get a best case mpg senario. The BEST gain in mpg @ 65 mph was only .5 mpg. Yep. Point five, pointO fiveO. So, if wanting a cat back for better mpg, you may want to consider putting the money in the tank instead.
    The article was printed in Off Raod Adventures magazine. :)

    yep.....i saw the article in the mag too. and it was on an f150. its kinda why i say alot, why get a catback when they cost that much, versus just a mufler, when essentially, they are the same thing!! think i'll stick with just a muffler!:)

    I was suprised. Fords are known for haveing a crappy stock exhaust system, and to only gain .5 mpg.? I wasnt supprised with the gains in h.p. they got. :)

    That's interesting to read- Makes me happy that I can't find a cat-back system that I really like. Get a muffler and move on...=)

    yep......the muffler opens it up pretty good for the ol ford. but, their intakes kinda suck too!!:D

    well i like the ricer sound. i dont care about mileage so much. yeah i wouldnt mind 19 city 24 hwy. just mainly to scare people. "oh look its a little tacoma 4 banger". hey hey little do they know whats packing:D
