Works the same way on dry ground, it's good in all situations.

This is correct. The weight of vehicle is in front and give a higher amount of tractive effort.

Do a burnout, in 4x4, on dry dirt going forward, then do the same burnout in reverse. I take no responsibility for shredded front gears, or foreheads planted in dashes.

Better to ask what I have not done.
Ok. To me i choose to use straps when some one is stuck in something like snow/mud and up to small logs/rocks up to 6 7 inches, and then winch when they are stuck ON something like a rock or an obstacle. Where i think yanking on them will only cause damnage.

Whats your reasons when to winch vs when to snatch.

However, due in part to being lazy, and also in the name of visual safety, I will, and did, pull from the front a lot when doing a snow extraction.
If on dry ground and the stuck was substantial, I would pull from the rear.

I mostly read all this..but I was always under the understanding you get the strap "taught" and then pull. Not to leave slack and then begin pulling like the vid did several times..But I think I read this is ok? This isn't ok right?

You have been trained in the thought of using the straps with hooks on them. A true kinetic strap can and does work with a good tug from the recoverer.

Snow recoveries, a yank with a slack strap is usually required, otherwise the pulling vehicle just spins on the end. kind of funny to watch.

If using a strap for a dry recovery, stuck on a log or high centered, then no yanking, take the slack up gently and then pull as needed without trying to remove parts of the vehicle.

Don't worry, I'll give the seminar on using fell as a word, and drinking beers and jumping over campfires. Or retell the enthralling story of the ruckus at the cooler.

That's the difference between a snatch strap and a tow strap. (I think Jake said there was no difference and that's not my understanding)
A tow strap shouldn't stretch much and a snatch strap should stretch and store potential energy that helps yank the stuck vehicle.
The straps we were using in those videos definitely stretched and it didn't feel like there was a huge "shock" when we hit tension.

Yeah, I was only thinking dry recovery. Snow recovery I usually just stand near the drivers side window, point and snicker with a coldie in my hand.

I don't know the amount of kenetic energy mine has. It's older and technology has changed but it was the standard strap when I got it..maybe I should look into it. But I'd like something that would yank with no concerns of any damage to the vehicle or strap..
