    there is and there isn't, depends on the marketing.
    Generally a "tow" strap will have hooks and is not meant for yanking.
    A "recovery" strap should NOT have any hooks, :deadhorse:
    just loops in the ends.

    I've seen packaging mislabeled a lot though.

    Yes and no. My tow strap is one of my recovery straps. You want some give in it so your not yanking around the whole time but i use the dynamics of a rope for tugs more then i do the strap and i use the strap more for towing because i dont want to trash the rope.

    Using an arb orange strap and a voodoo kinetic strap

    Recovery straps do make awesome makeshift harnesses for winch line zip lines in the forests though.

    Just out of curiosity do you all know each other in real life? I don't know any of you obviously, but wasn't sure how deep this rabbit hole goes..at this point I assume any 4x4 or fab shop I walk into, atleast a couple of you guys will be behind the counter or just creepin around.
