You realize that is everywhere right? Including Wyoming. Plenty of people here claim to be the most outdoorsy person in the world and then you go camping and they are towing the house behind them. Or the obsurd ammount of "hunters" we have that go up for a weekend, ride on a 4wheeler, drink beer and then call it good and hit the grocery store up on the way home? You won't get away from it and you can always find people that are exactly as they say they are. I will say its probably easier to find honest people in Wyoming.

LA is a terrible place to live if you are hoping for people that aren't posers. Go there for a year or two and experience it...there is plenty to see and do, but don't act like it's worlds better than denver. Hell, a good chunk of the people in denver are probably transplants from LA.

    Haha good point.

I'm banking on working with the best professionals in the music and movie business. No posers there. Can't. Your either good enough to do it. Or fired haha

At work, sure. That doesn't mean they wont be the know-it-all that has experienced everything you have and more. Work is 40-80 hours a week. Eventually you will have to find friends and pursue hobbies outside of work.

In no way am I saying it's a bad idea to go. I would travel pretty far and live in states I never wanted to if it meant I could have my dream job for a few years. Just don't go expecting it to be any different from any other city. I am confident I could live just about anywhere and be happy.

IMO, south end; Centennial, Cherry Creek, Littleton and Parker are preferable. All the big city amenities you could ever ask for. Not cheap; plan on at least $400k for any kind of decent house. But after JH for the last 12 years it seems very reasonable.

    East Colfax=Hookers, drugs, driveby's

If Denver fake bugs you, LA fake will kill you. Everybody is famous approximate, traffic in the LA basin makes Denver look like Cody. If you want to mix big acts on analog boards move to Nashville man, unless you're a big time EDM DJ/producer nobody that can actually pay for studio time in LA wants to work with you and then it's all Ptools, cubase, ableton, etc... Even Nashville is headed that way, not to discourage you, but the hipster indie acts who would record on analog on principal just can't afford it...

Yea not an EDM guy. I've considered Nashville. I love the style of recording there and sound. But want to do film scoring. That's done old school to this day, has to be. Very few people get to do it. And really if I get really good at it I'll be flown to abbey road to work more then anything.

I don't know much about film scoring, but I can imagine that all that epic sounding James Horner?, legends of the fall, gladiator, saving private Ryan, soundtrack stuff probably demands 150+ plus tracks at a whack, not to mention the specific skills to mic the specific sections of the orchestra, so if that's you're desire more power to ya'. Too, driving the pacific coast highway for a few days at a time is quite fun, overall quality of life however from Santa Ana to Ventura? Well I can say it won't be -25 like it is in Moran tonight. If career is the most important thing to you in life right now, I'd go for it, you can always become jaded and reclusive in your mid 30's, not like I'm speaking from personal experience ;)

Take a lot to convince me of that. I am not a fan of southern humidity.

It would be last option for me. No way will I take a job where I'll be required to work outside in a hot environment. Pretty area though. I enjoyed my short stay in Kentucky/Tennessee.

New wildlife biologist position in Challis, ID...wherever that is. Recent grad too so I should have an insane start date of Jan 19th.

I am staying this semester unless I get offered a position in Laramie full time and I could do my last semester part time. Jobs with the gov are weird. Most of the time start dates are negotiable and I would be able to finish school and then start the job. Since they are afraid of the hiring freeze with trump they are pushing these positions to start Jan 19th.

Pathway positions were designed to help recent graduates get a foot in the door. I have to be graduating within 9 months of the job offer. They are more flexible with these because the person is "training" for a year and the job doesn't rely on them. I quit applying to non-pathway positions unless they specifically state a start date of April/may.

I think I'll take a basic temp fish tech position or forestry job in Laramie to wait out trumps hiring freeze/attrition bs. The good news is I am getting good at phone interviews and being offered jobs. I needed that confidence boost being in a field where most people fail. It's easy to say no, but if I can get lucky once and find a permanent position I can go into when I graduate, why not?

I'll be interested to see how you like it. Sheridan/Buffalo are on our short list of places we'd like to live.

I enjoy Sheridan but it has been a bit of a depressing place since leaving high school. I didn't realize it until recently but a lot of people never leave the town and or strive to do better. Great place to have a family and/or retire...but I could see it being pretty mundane for a younger couple. It can also be very cliquey in areas/situations. I don't think I will be returning there any time soon. If you have the choice, I would choose buffalo. Great friendly community and a true small town feel. It's a short drive to Sheridan to get things from the bigger stores they have. Best of both worlds. Hard to beat the views and the short drive to the bighorns though.
