De-badge

What did you use plasti-dip for on your truck?? I considered using it for the badges instead of painting them.

 

When I bought my truck it came with some horrible pin striping on it. I took it in to get tinted to a guy who also did a lot of custom decal work so I asked him if he could remove the pin striping and all the badges.

I don't own a heat gun, nor do I care to buy one at this point so I figured it would just be easier for him to do it. He charged me $30.

I'm aware of what it is and where to get it, I was just wondering how you used it on your truck.

I know how it works haha I meant.....what did you apply it to yourself? Grill? Wheels? Badges? See what I'm throwing down...?? lol

 

I haven't applied it yet still a little too cold to apply here. It says it has to be 50 degrees or warmer. Now I see what your throwin down

 

I debaged mine just so I feel like i am not an odd ball driving a Japmade truck while the rest of the guys around me are either driving Fix Often Repair Daily = FORD 0r other domestic trucks.

I removed the dealer emblems and license plate surrounds; no way I am going to provide free advertising for a dealer! I kept the OEM emblems.

 

You didn't have access to a blow dryer? You could have saved $30.

 

It would be difficult to remove pin striping with a hair dryer. Plus it was like super cold out when I bought the truck so not motivating in terms of getting outside to do it. He offered to take the badges off at the same time so that's the only reason why I had him take off the badges.

 

I would like to just debadge the "MA" from my tailgate to get "TACO". Would that be possible?

As for the dip, I dipped my emblems and stock rims black. Cheap and greatly enhanced the look compared to the original look.

 

The Trim on the tailgate is plastic, so yes, you can remove the "Tacoma", trim it carefully, then reinstall it with new 3M tape. Safer then trying to slice through it while it's on the tailgate...
