I've been pretty happy with this setup so far. A little manual labor makes me enjoy my coffee even more.

 

I use a regular french press at home, all out of the beans I got from Nicaragua a couple years ago though those were tasty af

 

Yo sign up for Modern Times coffee subscription. $40 a month gets you 2 bags of freshly roasted goodness. You get one bag of usually their Black House (it's also the same beans they use in their coffee stout) and a bag of a barrel-aged bean. You get some really interesting flavors from those. I think this month is a bourbon barrel aged bag. Last month was a whiskey barrel aged. I usually finish the last of both bags right as my new shipment comes in the first few days of the month.

 

All this fancy coffee making stuff and I'm over here with my Starbucks coffee..it's always done the job, but damn I hate when I think about all the money I spend. I got two gift cards for xmas which was a total of about $50, and it's pretty much gone already

 

I quit starbucks when I learned how to make a good cup of coffee. Very rarely do I go to one. Its way too overpriced for over-roasted coffee. $50 gets you at least a months worth of good, fresh, local roasted beans.

 

Yeah it's looking like I'm going to have to start learning how to make my own good coffee because like I said, I spend way too much at Starbucks lol

 

I was at a Peets coffee the other day, wanted a small regular cup of joe and it was $2.25, ok whatever it's just a couple bucks. Then the girl hands it to me half full and says, "if you want it full we'll need to make another batch" bitch I just paid $2.25 for 10 oz of water filtered through dirt, of course I want it full!!

 

buy yourself a grinder and an aero press. it's the easiest way to make a consistently good cup of coffee. That's what I bought when I first started. Don't buy pre-ground beans the flavor is garbage. Once you grind the beans the true flavors only stay with them for a few minutes so you want to grind and brew as close together as possible

Definitely man. I picked up a Ninja Coffee bar over black Friday for like 50% off. Just enough customization to get you started down the road. Half the battle to good coffee is nice filtered water and NOT over heating the water.

 

@lesterb315 alternatively if you want a good auto dripper get the Bonavita BV1500. It's $75 but it's one of the best drippers in the price range. It heats the water up to about 195 which is where you want it, and it has a showerhead water dispenser so it evenly covers your beans. I got one for christmas and I use it every morning during the week.

This seems so pricey when a can of Folgers will run you $15 or so. I'll have to check it out.

 

Yes, but it's also legit coffee, not that folgers shit. It lasts a month. Think of it this way: you can go to Starbucks everyday and spend about $3-5 depending what you get. If you go only during the week that's about 20 * $4 = $80 for coffee only during Monday-Friday. That $40 I spend gives me at minimum 2 cups of coffee Monday-Sunday every week for the full month.

 

Has someone tried the Overland coffee? Its ground coffee tho.

 

All that coffee talk caught my attention but that is WAY too much work to do when you're not even awake yet. I'll stick to my keurig for now.

I don't go to Starbucks though. I spend ~50-75 cents a day on Folgers + a solid flavored cream that makes it taste like a $5 cup.

 

I bought some last yr at the Overland Expo(Flagstaff,AZ.).Was decent and worth the purchase!

 

Well now it's out there for those who do waste money at starbucks lol. I'm as big of a coffee snob as I am a beer snob so all that's important when I make a cup of coffee haha.

 

Never cared for Starbucks!Thumbs down!Overrated and becoming more and more overrated in my opinion.
