I really wish Toyota had thought this one out a little better.

We call him Velcro dog, always stuck to you. Usually he has his chin on my arm while we are driving.

Yup turned my chime off, i always belt up but there are times when i wanna move my truck around the complex at 10mph or less and dont need to buckle up. or shit is in the passenger seat.

Couple of commands through a telnet terminal over bluetooth via the OBD port. but the dealer can do it as well with their techstream software.

I use a clothes pin and put in where the seat belt goes in upside down. Cheap and not permanent

I have a 2008, and this is what I did.

Since I can, here is the cut and paste version:

I ended up doing the following:
    • set the trip reset to read ODO (did this when I was traveling somewhere)
    • Got in the car, did not put on seat belt
    • turned the ignition, but did not start car. Let everything light up and pushed and held the trip reset knob for about 20 seconds
    • Kept my finger on the reset knob, fastened the seat belt. Watched the ODO display "B-ON". Hit the reset knob and watched it cycle to "B-OFF".
    • Turned the car off.
    • Turned the car on. Kept my seat belt off for a bit and listened to blessed silence. Once I realized it worked, put my seat belt on and went home.
It really was as easy as the instructions said it would be.

And because all the other cool kids are doing it...here is the reason I wanted it turned off:

i would actually like one of these. i do ride support and often times have a 30-something pound toolbox in my passenger seat. Hearing that damn chime for 8hrs (lots of starting and stopping) gets really old, really fast.

Because it only works on trucks with older gauges like halfway thru 09 or so. After that it is techstream or belt tricker thingy or clothes pin.

It was a cheat for most all the capcom games in the 1980s. Unlimited ammo and 99 lives I think. Still remember all of those game cheat codes ecxept the mortal combat finishing moves.
