So I've been trying to figure out what I can about my base RC's traction control situation. I came across numerous threads, most helpful of which was this: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...rols-trac-auto-lsd-a-trac-rear-locker.212057/

However my main goal is to have the Auto LSD function without any intervention from the VSC system once the speeds get above 30mph. Is there any way of doing this, or have the Auto-LSD function independent of other vehicle systems?

If not, maybe just getting a Detroit Truetrac and then turning off all VSC will have to be the way to effectively have my cake and eat it too.

Isn't this how it works by default?

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I shouldn't be posting with a head cold and minimal brain function.

I was picturing the dash lights and knew the VSC light shut off at 30mph. It just dawned on me that its the VSC OFF light. Which means VSC is re-engaged at 30mph. Doh!

Auto LSD is pretty jerky. It's OK for launching off the line, but I've never seen it kick in above 30 mph. So if you don't want VSC to engage above 30 mph, just turn everything off (hold the button down for 5 sec).

Maybe I'm overestimating the ability of the Auto LSD feature, but I'd really like to have some type of traction enhancement without cutting engine power. When driving in snow, I feel it works decently but havent driven in anger yet in the dry to see if it'll even be an issue. (My primary reason for wanting it, is for fun when autocrossing or spirited driving once I get my lowering kit and a proper set of wheels/tires for it).

Isnt that just for disabling ABS? Since the Auto LSD works by applying brake pressure, how would that work?

Sounds like for what you want to do mechanical lsd/locker and killing all traction nannys would be your best bet.

But I want the Auto LSD, just without VSC.

Yeah, if there's no workaround (i.e. easily killing a wheel speed sensor or something), then I may have to consider the DTT LSD and go mechanical.

I don't believe there is a way to keep the AUTO LSD and eliminate the VSC

Mechanical LSDs like the torsen in Audis or the clutch-pack ones in '05-'08 TRD Sports work continuously. Often the torque transferred to the gripping wheel is proportional to the speed difference between the two wheels, so it's good for partial-slip conditions at speed. Toyota's auto-LSD implementation can be jerky, so it's really only good for launching in a straight line.

Do you have the other bits for autocrossing your Tacoma, like a rear sway bar or a leaf shackle brace?

Gotcha, thanks. I guess I'll see how it does this year if/when I have the opportunity to do some runs with it (Miata is the primary autocrosser).

No other bits picked up yet. I plan on doing the XII kit with X-Runner Bilsteins. I also saw the URD traction bar made for XR's, but couldnt see if it was compatible with my single cab base model. But that bar also looks intriguing, did you make it yourself? Seems somewhat similar to the X-brace in its intent to keep the leaf mounts sturdy.

This that and the other thing.
I just want to be able to do donuts in the damn snow lol and for the love of god no one better tell me to push and hold that darn button lol cuz when your tires start spinning faster then 30, which doesn't take much, bloody vsc or what ever engages and you end up with the cheese grader effect lol is there a mod out there that I can just push a button that will disengage everything? even if my tires are spinning over 30? its not like I want to go all Tokyo drift around the city but when I see a nice open parking lot covered in a fresh snowy powder, it would sure be nice to go throw the back end in circles.

That's crossbar is from defined engineering.
I just did a shackle flip but I was running this shackle hanger crossbrace and it actually makes the rear feel more solid
