I just noticed that the trim around the grill may be a different color.

Has anyone else come across this before? Is this something the dealer will fix?

Paint mismatches coming from the factory is not that uncommon from what Ive seen here. The MGM color really got hit bad with this. It also could be caused by the dealer, say the lot boy wrecked your truck in the lot (fender bender) they outsourced to their own body shop to fix before selling. It happens.... shitty!

I didn't say it is very common. I said it is not THAT uncommon. Search the forum for "paint does not match" you'll find other threads on this.

Normal. Visible to some degree on every single vehicle that has plastics and metal in the "same" colour.

0210 said it, but yours seems to be really noticeable. That color is a tough one.

They'll likely outsource to a body shop to try and have it match. This could turn out better or for worse. You're rolling the dice.

It's normal. It's even worse on the metallic paint options. Mine is white and my grill, Hood/ fender, and bumper are all slightly different. It's not great, but not the end of the world because I paid 40k for it. It's on the same assembly line as the white base model work trucks, so it's not like there's a paint hue selection process to match parts. If my truck was like Toyota's tier 1 brand, then I'd likely have an issue with it.

At what dollar threshold is your "end of the world" for getting a high quality product without paint issues?

If you needed a number value, I'd throw out 150k and above. Manufacturing processes involve more inspection and QC down to paint flaws usually at that price point. My truck's got dust and flecks of lint in the paint. LOL. Not a big deal..

So, it depends on what type of vehicle it is with the $$ amount attached to it. I work for a car company and see all sorts of stuff in evaluation cars from competitors on a weekly basis. We learn to accept certain "flaws" and figure what's acceptable or what's not as we learn how each manufacturer coats their vehicles on the assy line.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, as I can't give you a "normal" consumer viewpoint because of my job involving vehicle production/ manufacturing processes.

If you knew as much and you think you do you would know that it's not a paint issue, and not a quality issue.
Every vehicle on the road has a shade differences between the plastic parts and the sheetmetal.

It's not just the grille surround, it's the bumpers, the door handles, mirror covers
    It's normal

    Mine isn't like this.

    But

I wouldn't doubt it. The grill isn't painted win it on the truck.

There are varying degrees of "acceptable" and in this case I'd say it depends on how an individual, the consumer, values a dollar compared to the significance of the flaw or "variation" in the paint. It has nothing to do with what you know or what you don't know. It has everything to do with perspective and reality.

I agree and answered accordingly. Too many regurgitated responses I've read on here at times. I believe it's TW-itis. LOL
