Yep. I enjoyed seeing how she almost side swiped it also.

Here is a better video. I would like to thank Coastal for providing me with the footage. They were surprised with how much my truck moved. Apparently no one had looked at the video to see what had happened until I walked in and asked to get a copy.

If it were me I'd go full repair on her dime. I'd also push for a brand new rear panel. Don't let anyone bondo your truck. Especially not a radiant red one.

Bondo will almost certainly crack over time.

I'm still thinking on if I want the dealer to fix it, or do it myself. As for bondo, no, it will not be used in the repair. Repairs if not done by me, will be done by the Toyota body shop.

I would go with the most reputable body shop in the area. I'm the kind of guy that wants car show quality trucks. I want the best to do body work and that more than likely will not be a dealer. We all have different standards though.

I had a similar dent on my truck that I paid a paintless dent removal buddy to pop out and I did all the paint correction. I need to update my post with pictures. The repair seems to be perfect unless the light hits it just right. Then you can see the stretched metal panel.

Not sure what you mean by do it all yourself but this is what I tried to do to save money and I found if you want a 100% fix its cheaper to go body shop and less hassle. I don't know if your flare is damaged but a new flare is about $400 unpainted from Toyota. To paint yourself could be done around $100.

Also your original quote more than likely does not include a new panel. They will pop the dent then bondo sculpt and repaint.

Just passing a long what happened to me.

You have a radiant red Tacoma! I would want to make sure the work was perfect. It's like Spruce Mica, its a god-like color they don't make anymore! :)

My thread (will try to get updated pictures this weekend): https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cracking-paint-fixable.462493/

The dealer is going to be the best shop here unless I drive 90 miles. I'll have to lok at the paperwork to see what it says, don't remember if it it was r&i or rpr on the bedside. Flare is gonna get replaced.
Probably tomorrow, I'm gonna get under it and check everything out.

Crawled under the truck today after washing all the ice and grime off. Found a 1/2" long rip in the bedside behind the bumper. Looking at the estimate, the dealer put repair the bedside. I'm going to go talk with them on Monday and get a new estimate written up with replacing the bedside. Also going to have to have the tail light checked out when they pull it since I now have water in the light which wasn't there before.
Also going to go by the bedliner shop and get a written estimate on sandblasting and spraying the bumper.

Had to push the insurance company a bit today. The person handling my claim has been out for two days. Apparently they were at some conference and tried to use that as an excuse. Told them that wasn't my problem, my problem is that my truck has been damaged for a week and is unable to drive with chains without causing more damage. Pointed out the snow in Oregon and that not being able to run chains if needed would make it dangerous if I had to go up to the Portland VA hospital. Not to mention I was suppose to go over to Redmond and look that a trailer.
They said I should be able to get the approval tomorrow to take it to the shop I chose. The "independent" adjuster/investigator extimated $2053 in damages (again, not including the alignment check, time required to R&I my reverse lights or cleaning and replacing the butyl & silicon that seals my canopy). Time estimate is 5 work days, but along with estimate adjustments the time can go up. I also made it very clear that my truck did not have bondo before it got hit and will not have bondo in the repair.
The other stuff will be negotiated when I get a face to face meeting with whoever their representative is.

If anyone is wondering, I got a quote of $320 to sandblast and spray the rear bumper with bedliner. Shop that is going to do it is called Twisted Trailer in Roseburg OR.

    This!

Sad to say but most of these instances happen and the other party drives away if no one was around here in LA... such a terrible thing.

Have a small dent in my rear bumper from a nice citizen who did the same. Came out from the movies and saw the dent... real cute lol

Yeah. That's probably the main reason why I was able to be polite when dealing with the woman who hit the truck. Definately less headache when they stick around. I was also very lucky that there was a witness who saw it happen, wrote down the vehicle info and stuck around incase she decided to bolt.

I need to come out toward you. Need to go out to Blue Dog RV to look at a couple trailers. Tried to look at the a Winnebago when I was in Portland, but they had just sold it. The dealer in Medford doesn't have the one I am interested in. Blue Dog says they have the model I'm looking for and in the color I want.

I'm gonna call to make sure they have one on the lot and set up a time to look at it before I head that way. But thanks for the offer.
