So, when I bought my tacoma, it did not have the factory skid plate..... the guy had a front receiver hitch, which has to come off for the arb bumper im putting on.

I'd like to put a skid plate back on, does anybody have any recommendations as far as brands?

And could somebody post a pic of their factory skid plate? I have no idea what it is supposed to look like either. Ive seen some on ebay for sale, but they dont exactly look right.

I have Skid Row Skid plate and tranny plate. Could not be happier with the product nor the service. I called and actually got a human being on the phone who knew what the hell was going on. Rare these days.

I never had the OEM skid plate either which is why I bought the skids. No pics to show.

I understand Bud Built skids are awesome too.

Post pics my man when you decide what to do.

EDIT: The aftermarket skids pop up in the 1st Gen classifieds as well. Might be worth it to surf over there for a couple weeks and see what pops up.

Keep your eye on the 1st Gen classifieds. They pop up frequently and you could snag one that way.

Personally brother, I would save my $$ and get a real skid plate. The OEM is pretty flimsy and you'll be itching to take it off.

will do, mind posting pics of yours? i don't think i have a tranny plate either. didnt notice it last time i changed the oil. i have the gas tank one, but i think thats it.

i dont plan on climbing rocks or anything, just want something to keep the limbs and stuff from flying up and busting something in the woods

Sure. Kinda sucks but only pic I have I believe. You notice they have their name cut into the skid.

Yeah, me too. I'm not going to Moab but when you need pop high curbs for traffic snarls or head down a fire road, good to know your radiator is protected. We own a ranch in the Ozarks and this thing is perfect for my needs.

I have 22Rethan's stainless skids on mine . They replace the factory unit. They are real nice and thick and well built . Search for 1st gen stainless steel skids there a bunch of pics on his thread in the for sale section.

This forum has helped me solve problems in the past and gave me ideas on things I need to do to my taco. So, I just think, rather then let it go to the scrap yard or waste my time with all the bullshit emails i get from craigslist, I might as well help out a fellow member.

I am in the same situation as the OP. No front or transmission plates on my recently purchased 2001 4x4. ARB bumper. Any other OEM skids out there that need a home? I'm located in NM
