Wind Noise Reduction

Quieted the wind noise.
3-M Weatherstrip (comes in black) for the door edge seals and I
Restricted the cabin 'vents'. Major Difference!
On my access cab, I cut a couple of (approx) 4x12 inch shapes of 3 inch thick green foam. Then, from under the truck, I worked them up with a stick to cover about the right 3/4 of the driver's side vent and most of the passenger side vent. The vents exit the back of the cab between the cab and the pick up bed. Easy peasy to do and the noise is significantly reduced. Took about 10 minutes for the foam - more for the 3-M (which needs to go be between the attachment points of the door seal). I hated the noise! Now if the transmission ever gets 'right' I'll be happy with my truck.

Why the cabin have vents? Other than when you roll up your window on the freeway and your ears pops.

 

Fresh air supply.. cabin pressure regulation..

 

So, by doing this. How much less noise?

 

I absolutely hate my wind noise too. I have an appointment to have it "looked at" by the dealer along with the Rev1 update for the transmission but my appointment isn't for another month before the dealer can give me an appointment so I was trying to figure other ideas for reducing the windnoise. I already put some irrigation tubing inside the door seals like another member suggested but it did nothing at all. I also restricted the rear vent and that helped a little and I used a lot of sound deadener and foam beneath the plastic panels and inside the doors. That also helped a bit but that damn wind noise from the back doors drives me nuts. Got any pics of your 3M weatherstrip install?

 

Sometimes I think it's my tires, it gotten noisier.

 

My tires on certain concrete hwy with texture and the road noise is pretty loud but on smooth asphalt, it's so quiet

Seatbelt Mike said he put little fins on the sideview mirrors that eliminated wind noise.

You get two pieces of foam, lay under the truck and stuff it up over each vent. If you don't like it you pull it out.

Miniature shark fins all over the truck.

 

This will cut most wind noise too.

 

Instructions unclear - I think I accidentally rotated my tires.

 

Just run a small bead along the weatherstrip on the doors, glue it in each section between the little rubber tits that hold it to the door. Apparently that door seal lifts up at speeds above about 40 mph. With that glued and the vents restricted it is a big difference.
