Tailgate won't open with key (oh yeah, Bakflip is on so I'm stuck!) Ideas?

No, the FOB does not unlock the tailgate on the 17. I believe the the SET Region is installing a Pop & Lock as an option.

The key that is in the FOB does unlock the tailgate on the 17. The 16 has a separate key, 17 is the same key.

Sorry for the confusion. I don't have a funny key or even a separate key, just a key with the FOB integrated on the end. I have the SR5 so maybe that makes the difference too.

He had the SR5, so he does not have push button start, therefore his key is different than your fob with backup key inside.

You are correct, but let's clarify this for everyone. The key INSIDE the fob that comes with pushbutton start Tacomas will unlock the tailgate.

I'd love to know who screwed the pooch on that one. Took a year for them to say "oh we're idiots, why didn't we just use the key in the fob".
