Cold weather Brake issues

When it's really cold out I have noticed every once in a while that I have to about stand on the brakes to get them to work or pump them to get them work. After that they work great. No leaks in the Master cylinder that I can see. It's almost like the brake booster is froze up briefly. I might try and flush the system and use new fluid. I have not done any recent brake work.

Anybody else had this happen before? is my brake booster going on on me or is there some water contamination in my lines?

 

Could be lack of vacuum. Anytime it's below 10 degrees here, it takes a pump or too, before I have working brakes. My front brakes and rotors have less than 15K miles, and I replace the brake fluid every 24 months.

 

Flush it to make sure there's no water in the brakes freezing up

Just like other fluids Brake Fluid does need changed

It can get enough water to freeze been there done that

 

I flushed a 99 that never had a brake fluid flush last year. Filled half of a 20ml water bottle and the bottom half was water. Brake fluid attracts water over time, and is important to flush regularly.

 

Gonna flush it. Fluid is pretty dark. I bet I have some moisture build up.

 

This was the stuff I bled out of my rear the first time. Half was water and it was full of stringy funk.

 

That's incredible. Can't say I've ever seen brake fluid that dirty before.

Dude!!! That's nasty, when was the last time that you flushed the brake fluid?

 

Good question. I bought it 3rd owner. It was probably genuine 1999 Toyota brake fluid

 

May wanna consider replacing ALL other fluids...

 

That truck is gone now. My new truck has been flushed
