It can be done in about a day if you know basic wiring and are handy with tools. Two days at most for a total beginner.

The projectors are not good. There's a reason why a complete Morimoto HID projector set is more expensive than this entire housing.

Spend the money and do it right, or buy brighter halogen bulbs. There is no halfway ground.

If time is the limiting factor, retrofitting services are available.

    All valid responses.
I'm certainly capable of a project like this. Im not even disappointed in my current light setup. I'm just looking to revitalize the truck.
I guess I was looking for a possibility of a solid aftermarket item that would make this easy for some.
I would still like to see who the guinea pigs are as the headlight with hid kit are sold out now.

FWIW, I have morimoto retrofit D2S setup and I just swapped back to my Philips Xtremevision BHLM oem setup for a few reasons......The projector or reflector bowl is not solid and couldn't stand the twitching and shaking on bumps (I know, need to take them apart and check it out - bought vs. made myself) and as far as the lighting, preference thing. Yes the lows were OK with 35w but brights suck being 35w redirected higher compared to the 55w H4 high with the Philips halogens. Color might be better than halogen but wasn't any more useful lighting than the halogens. Also my oem fogs are 35w HID aimed out down and the combo of the halogen low with the HID fogs are just fine, plenty of light and no one flashing me. Another thing is chasing ballast/bulb replacement with 6 of each - 2 for headlights, 2 for bumper fogs & 2 for the HID Hellas. Then there is the LED bar in between the hellas on the lightbar. Just too much crap that I care to keep alive. If all 6 ballasts/bulbs aren't new at same time then seems like always jacking with lights for one reason or another and just tired of that so another reason would be to simplify lighting and clutter of all the harnesses. And no, not going 55w in the retros and no, not spending any 1k on some next level retro setup. My experience and my preferences, just info to use or lose. As always, satisfy your own preferences and needs. No one else's will automatically be anyone else's. +2 or whatever on the shitty aftermarket halogen projectors in whatever form that takes, they all suck compared to oem halogens but again, a preference thing. They look good but do not perform any better, worse in most cases.

HID kits in halogen projectors will still have a worse light pattern than halogens. It just won't have as much glare as compared to HIDs in halogen reflector housings.

The LED projector is one complete self-contained unit and does not contain a bulb in the traditional sense. Koito bi-LED projectors used to be available from TRS until they couldn't sell it due to an exclusivity contract.

Hmm did not know that. Thanks. Hope the "bulb" never burns out haha. Can't imagine that'll be cheap.
