You shouldn't be depressed, you were able to get something typed after you left. Tell us the secret. Oh and you should have you device looked at if you accidently end up at places, I wonder if my 13 year old will use that when I catch him on porn? Oh sorry dad, I accidently ended up in the smut show.

less weight due to less gas? Unless I am going on a longer drive, I tend to never fill more than half way, always had it in my head that it's less weight to be dragging around.

My best in warm weather 23&1/2. Cold weather (Ohio) 16 - sucks. But it's because of warm up & winter gas. Have about 8,000 miles on truck.

Probably not, my trip is around 15 miles on almost all freeway with no traffic really. So far this week I'm still on the top 1/4 of the tank. This morning again got 15 mpg on the trip. I'm assuming its the temp outside and winter gas. I do have a lift and 32s, but I was getting around 16.5 in city and 19 highway with that combo about 2 months ago.

Lift & bigger tires will give less mpg & but looks cool.

I know, the bummer for me though is that my FJ got 17/21 with 34s and a 3 inch lift. The wheel/tire combo on the FJ was also 92+ lbs where as my Taco is on a 2" lift with 32s that weigh about 78 lbs. Oh well

Might get better with more break in. I think it takes a long time to fully break in a Tacoma. Like 20,000 miles. Look how long they last. I didn't consider my Harley broke in till 10,000 miles.

Too be honest I think problem is lack of torque from the motor. The motor should put out at least 20 foot pounds of torque more than the horsepower. I think the motor has to work to hard for weight of the truck.Test Drive a Nissan Frontier & you will find out what I mean.

I agree with you 100% I'd add that the software mapping for shift/throttle is part of the problem too.

Absolutely, low end torque is what a truck needs not high rev HP.

not all trucks are created for the same use. Many more Tacos are just daily drivers. Don't need that low end torque.

Agreed on different usage but low RPM Torque would still improve daily driving experience too.

It will help yes. I will say, I feel like I need to start in 1st way more than my 09, which I could take off in 2nd, not great but it could do it. Haven't tried yet in the 17, if I remember when I am somewhere safe to not create a cluster if I stall, I will try.

I skip gears in my trucks, hoping the 3rd Gen will be able to handle that too.

    Lost in Montana *recalculating*
    Vehicle:
    2016 Silverado LTZ
    6.2L 8spd stock
This was my average MPG driving from Montana to Ohio the first week of Nov. This picture was taken in Iowa. No wind, mild temps, flat ground.

    ED2BE234-BD57-4324-AD26-F6305601FBF3_zps_9c8fff813eadb82efae78108390045a28f68d95c.jpg

My highway mpg was generally worse than my secondary road mileage. My taco never got above 18mpg in stock form.

It is baffling to me how a mid size, 3.5L 6spd truck can have such varying examples of fuel consumption.

Toyota Tacoma 278 hp 265 lb-ft. The torque should be 298. Instead we have the power of a mini van. The 2010 Nissan Frontier I had 261 hp 282 lb-ft. Felt more like a V8 that a 6. I also believe that's why they downshift to much. Lack of Torque!

There is nothing wrong with this engine but lack of Torque. Toyota dropped the ball on this! I hope they fix.
