Wow. I'll take it! What a night of hockey.

 

Fuck eh, some of those boys will never see this much attention again.

 

I honestly think, and Im pretty sure I'm not alone in this, that the final game should be decided only in OT. shoot outs kinda take the intensity out of a spectacular finish.

 

Americans, correct. Canadians will always see it tho within the country

Agreed. Shootouts suck when it comes to these kinds of games

I really hope the NHL goes to South Korea for the Olympics

Right now the NHL doesn't have an agreement to go. The IIHF has done everything the NHL asked for to get them to go but the owners don't see a value in letting their players go away for 2 weeks where they could get injured. Of course the solution they've proposed is to extend the CBA that the players hate for a couple of more years so, yeah, basically unless something shocking happens the NHL won't be willing sending players to Korea.

 

Would be a pretty boring movie, right? The story of the tourney's best team, winning. Beat Russia twice, beat Canada twice. End of story

CBC's Scott Russell has suggested that instead of NHL'ers, the Olympics be contested by Juniors with a couple of overage players permitted on each team.

It would be like watching 'Titanic', and we all knew that the boat would sink before we paid for the ticket.

 

This is how it should be in the first place. The Olympics originally was about amateur competition.

 

That is true but I feel like in most sports now, most of those ppl are professionals. The runners, swimmers etc etc. They are all training and competing year-round to be the best in the world. So hockey should be the same way. Hard to argue that it gets great exposure with the NHLers there. I love international hockey, with the best of the best. I feel like most people agree. The hang-up is the money issue and also GMs bitching about their players getting hurt. I can understand all of that though. But I feel like it is actually better for the sport when you can watch the big names play for their countries. And it seems like the players, themselves want to play.

@AJH387 , you find the new stars in hockey through the Olympics IMHO. A high draft choice can change based on an amatuers play in Olympic tourneys.
