    Hi guys,

I am a first time Tacoma owner and I had a few questions....I had recently picked up a 2017 Tacoma double cab limited and noticed slight vibration under the gas pedal from approx 2200 to 2600 rpm. Either I am being a slight hypochondriac as I have read this issue for the 2016 or are some people dealing with this issue in the 2017's as well. Any feedback would be awesome!

The 2017 is literally the same exact truck. They exhibit almost every single issue that the 2016s had, with very very few exceptions. Even the Lower Control Arm holes are not plugged on the 2017 which you'd think Toyota would have gone ahead and done for the new model year as it was already a TSB for the 2016 and a VERY easy and cheap fix, but they did not.

But hey, Mike Sweers promises that he'll buy you dinner if you find a 3rd gen with vibrations.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...xed-the-drivetrain-vibration-for-2016.376328/

You may want to check the U-bolts on the rear springs as many are coming from the factory too loose.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/check-your-u-bolts.397913/

If tight, take it to the dealer and get it documented.

If they say, "It's normal" contact corporate.

Do a google search and you'll find lots of info on Tacoma driveline vibrations.

Mechanically. But not 100% cosmetically. You can pay more and get a wet primer color.

Similar to some mid 90's domestics, like the Taurus. :D

    More bad information from Smitty.

It's not the exact same Truck. For example, my 2017 came with Rev 0 ECU/TCU update. It also had the modified springs/steering damper with the shim to change the angle of the differential and mine has no vibration as a result. All the 2017s should also have the new CPS sensor. Some TSBs are making their way into to the production 2017s, depending on when it was manufactured but there are at least 3 updates that my 2017 had with no symptoms to the problems they fixed.

Let's also not forget that all 2017 Double Cab TRD/Limited models got the power sliding rear window.

How do you know what rev your update was on your 2017, ie 0 vs 1?

Techs hooked it up when I bought it to verify it had the updated version at the time, which was pre Rev 1. You can check yourself using a bluetooth OBD2 reader and app like OBD Fusion. If the ECU version ends in 200 it's Rev 0. If it ends in 300 it's Rev 1.

Nice try but swing and a MISS. Your comment has nothing to do with the OP issue. The software update has no impact on the mechanical issue of vibration. Not bad information at all as I mentioned they are identical with "very very few exceptions"

I just don't understand. I'm not having any issues with mine. I did however notice the constant shifting thing everyone was talking about. But after 300 miles its seems to have settled and is already shifting very smoothly.

I still see dodge caravans on the road sometimes too....I mean you understand that quality control issues don't necessarily affect 100% of every product that roles out of the factory the exact same

The only thing to understand about 80% of the complaints is hypochondriacs. Smitty alone has created a list of "issues" some as sad as my dash rattles when I go over bumps. Now he has about 3 or 4 members who worship him and "have" the same issues.

Yet there are several post made by YOU saying all 3rd gens are lemons and we lack the situational awareness to know any better. Interesting...

Looks like your transmission is adapting to your driving style. After 750 miles mine has done the same.

You think this is bad go on the Hellcat forums. One guy lemoned his car because the front facia didn't align perfectly. And I'm talking millimeters. Another wanted a new car because rock chips were messing up his lower fenders and doors. Said the paint was too thin. I could go on and on
