Now that place would break the bank for me! Lebanon Bologna, Fresh Rendered Lard, and of course Scrapple jumped right out at me. That would only be the start.

So hard to find the good stuff around here with the curing salts that I got yesterday also picked up this book:


Not sure I will get into cold smoking and dry curing it can be dangerous and needs the proper equipment. But going to look into it and see what I can do.

Argh, need a place to rant. For those not interested in dealing with senior living places, please feel free to skip this post.

I manage my mother's assets since she is disabled and getting worse. In the last 4 months she has gone from her apartment (owned by Brookdale) to the hospital, to rehab (Brookdale)and now in assisted living (Brookdale). Since the management group decided in September she MUST go to assisted living, I've been trying to get her moved and vacate the old apartment. She only gets 4K in retirement per month, and paying for an apartment and assisted living together is about 8K. So, since this would kill her savings, Brookdale agreed to help reduce the costs until I can stabilize her living arrangements. That agreement lasted about 5 minutes.
The last bill was 11K because they decided her assisted living room is private (they ALL are private, too f'ing small for more than one person), so now they want 4,000 for Nov, Dec, and Jan PLUS full price for assisted living room and her old apartment.
As if dealing with an elderly parent isn't enough, I have to deal with these bloodsuckers. Anyone know a good elder care lawyer in Florida?

Sorry you are going through this George, been there done that. We looked into a lawyer for pretty much the same thing and gave up, the cost wasn't worth it. Doesn't mean it isn't worth a try though.

My mother was living in Fl. and had a stroke. After she got out of the hospital went through a rehab program and on waiting list for assisted living. They are in high demand this was in Haines City. She was in assisted living for almost 6 months when all the bills and other places started demanding money. My sisters and I tried to fight it but like pissing onto the wind. Ended up moving her to the Raleigh NC 4 miles from youngest sister to an assisted living place there. After a bit more than a year her rent\fees have doubled. My niece just moved out of my sisters place and my mother is now living with her and another young roommate. That just happened a few weeks ago. I have my reservations about my niece being able to take care of Mom, she is just too young and self centered yet. We got Mom an Apple watch for Christmas so she can make calls etc. if need be but if she is bad off not sure she will be able to use it. Not sure what the solution is. For your mother or mine. Good luck and if you find a decent lawyer that can get resolution it should be a sticky someplace.

 

I'll have to look for the Pa. store next time I go to Md. I know there is a bass pro shop in Harrisburg Pa. I miss the exit almost everytime

Sounds like me not long back...

 

We were in drydock. Can't even remember the pier numbers or drydocks there, too many ships and water under the bridge LOL. The USS Missouri was there then, I recall that.
